This is a great super lightweight rain jacket. It's not very quiet and don't trust it if I have to break any brush or go through thorny patches in the field, but is a great waterproof layer to keep in the bag or wear in the blind. Fits well over a T-Shirt or over multiple layers on a cold day.
Now that NorCal has finally got some rain I can say this jacket is awesome. Compared to my last jacket, which cost me more 16 yrs ago than my new vapor a month ago, there is no equal. In the C$&**%! MTO-50 jacket i had previous I would sweat like a log hauler on speed and the more it rained the more water it soaked up and the heavier it got. This jacket sheds the water and weighs the same after it's wet as when I first put it on. Thank you Firstlite I couldn't be happier.
I have used this jacket for a week long DIY rafting trip to Alaska, Colorado late season hunts, and a full season of backcountry/inbounds skiing here in Colorado -- the jacket is durable, comfortable, and functional - it is a little stiff when you first get it but breaks in nicely -- I have worn this through 3 days of rain with no issues -- the only damage came from clipping a tree branch while tree skiing at high speed which caused a rip in the arm;quick stitch and adhesive patch and it's been fine ever since
Light weight, keeps you dry and doesn’t add excess weight to my pack perfect for long hikes to when weight and space are an issue. Pockets are well sealed and has a good size hood that is adjustable for any wearer. First Lite gear is hands down some of the best hunting gear I have owned.
This jacket is a solid performer. I’ve used it in two rainstorms and a day with a consistent drizzle and have stayed completely dry the whole time. Good, pockets, hem, and cuffs are all excellent. Zippers seal tight. It’s very light, adding almost nothing to push weight. It is durable and breathable. I’ve hiked through light brush in it on the day with the drizzle, it held up beautifully. I would look for something heavier if I was in persistently wet conditions like you’d find in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. But for packing and hunting in mountains and deserts where weather can be unpredictable, I’ll keep this jacket handy and it will keep me dry.
It is the most breathable rain jacket I've owned. I hiked 10 miles in the Adirondacks through rain, hail, and snow (all in one hike), and not once did I get sweaty and feel like I was in a personal sweat-lodge. Highly recommend
Super light, great fit.
With having owned tons of outdoor mountaineering and hunting gear firstlite is my top choice. Great fit, long lasting and tough.
It’s not as quiet as I’d like but when it’s raining it’s not that big of a deal. It packs small, keeps me dry and stays in my pack no matter what the forecast is.
This truly is an ultralight rain jacket. So far it has done a great job of keeping me dry. I was also pleasantly surprised at how well it contained body heat, which isn’t exactly ideal on warmer wet days but an asset on those colder wet days! I went a size larger than normal to accommodate for thicker layers in the later seasons. Considering this, the fit is exactly what I’m looking for.
