Hats off

Great beanie. Keeps my bald head toasty.

Fit:
Really tight, not very warm

It’s a well made beanie, and, as always, the merino is top notch. But, it is really small and thin. As tight as it is, there is little warmth or comfort. My 16 month old son wears the beanie. His head circumference is in the 34th percentile.

Lightweight wimpy beanie

I love you First Lite, I really do. But you guys gotta stop screwing around and make a real beanie. There’s nothing warm about this flimsy little thing.
Rated at below 20F and 20-45F? Don't you believe it. I’d barely give this the 45-60F rating. It’s okay for active hunting, but for static hunting you’ll wish you had 2 of them layered.
And as almost every other reviewer has stated, it’s small. Lengthwise and diameter.

The best thing about it is that it’s not over-branded like all the other First Lite gear. Branding is only on that little tag (which you can cut off).

Best Beanie I've Owned

I bought the beanie a couple years ago. From reading some of the other reviews it sounds like the newer ones might fit a little different for some. Worth talking to Customer Service to see if they've changed at all I guess. The one I have is great though. Super comfortable and the perfect amount of material to keep your head warm without a bunch of bulk. Other beanies sometimes make my head itch after hours of wear and sweating. Never had that problem with this beanie. Could wear it all day.

2 different generations

I bought a tag cuff beanie I think around 2017. It is perfect. I bought it in pine and it is thick, warm, large, and extremely soft. I’d give it a 6 out of 5 rating I love it so much. However, I recently went on a turkey hunt this year so I bought a new tag cuff beanie in camo, and it seems like it’s an entirely different fit. It’s small enough that I can barely get it to cover my ears, it’s material isn’t as thick and therefore not as warm, and it also seems to be made out of rougher material. I would give this beanie a 3/5. I think with FL’s increase in popularity their quality must have decreased, at least in their beanie, which is unfortunate. Still a huge fan of the brand though.
