This shirt is the BOMB. I wear it has a next to skin base layer in temps as high as 60-65 and well down in the teens. It breathes great, drys quickly and most importantly keeps my body temp comfortable.
I bought this as a mid-layer between my Wick Hoody and Puffy Jacket, and it couldn't be more perfect for the task! The quarter-zip makes it easy to pull on and off over other layers, and the fit is just the right amount of snug to hold in the body heat. For early season hunting, I didn't wear it too much until the nighttime temps dipped into the low 30s, and then it became a lifesaver inside my sleeping bag. Same quality merino you expect from First Lite, and didn't smell at all after a week in the backcountry.
Wow. Nice, stretchy and comfy. I bought this during the flash sale to give Merino wool a shot. I wore it around the house and yard for a couple days. Then I wore it on a bicycle ride of an hour and a half with temps around 50-55 degrees F. I wore enough to sweat a bit. No itch and was warm when damp. Also, no wet wool smell. I recommend this as a base layer as you don't need to go lighter. As far as sizing, I followed the website recommendations for a medium size even though I almost always wear a large. The sizing recommendations were right on.
I always wondered how those old timers wore wool year round. Now i know. Amazing product. Warm when it needs to be cool when it needs to wick sweat.
I wore this under my Wick Short Sleeve Crew and a jacket. When I would get a bit warm just unzip for a quick cool down, or zip back up to retain the body heat. Definitely a great addition to my shirt collection.
