Purchased this piece for a week-long mule deer hunt in ID, but have worn this whitetail hunting in the east as well. It's warm, quiet, and holds up to some moisture, but will eventually soak through. My hunting partner had Obsidian pants, and these pants picked up significantly less stickers and needles when hiking through the woods. I haven't noticed any picks or wear on the pants after a few weeks of constant use. I got pretty muddy and washed them in a creek, let them dry and they looked brand new again.
First impressions: They fit great, slightly baggy on me but I plan on taking them into the late season with some heavy base layers so a little room is preferred. Love the suspenders, keep pants exactly where you want them to be with no need for a belt. For how lightweight and thin these are, they are very warm. Just trying them on for 10 minutes in 70° and I was feeling toasty, so I'm looking forward to getting them out into some colder weather. These pants combined with the jacket, you literally don't make any sound, the fabric is perfect. I plan on using the Catalyst system as my main outerwear and utilizing base layers for extra warmth and so far I'm very impressed with these. Will post another review after the season.
Next to the obsidian pants these are the most comfortable pants I own. Silent and very water resistant. I am a big fan of the suspenders. the double cargo pockets are very well thought out. No unnecessary bulk.
Can say I definitely expected better out these pants. First thing I noticed was they are a bit tight. I had only wick boxers, triad socks and Alleghany LJs and they were tight. I have both the Corrugates and Obsidians in Large and both have plenty of room. Next thing I noticed while sitting against a tree was they are not very wind proof. And winds were at most up to 10 mph. I think this is due to them being kind of tight around the knees and thighs which stretched out the fabric. Lastly, after a morning sitting in a slight rain the pants were wet from the knees down. Again I believe this is due to the tighter fit.Things I do like a lot about the pants. They are warm but also breathable. Never had an issue with overheating in these even on a 2 mile hike in. They are very comfortable pants and with some slight tweaking may be my favorite hunting pants to date.
These are the most comfortable mid weight hunting pants I have ever worn, PERIOD! They worked as advertised hiking up and down the mountains in Colorado chasing elk. If I could make one change it would be to add a full length zipper along the legs of the pants for extra ventilation and ease of removal, if you did that these would be the perfect hunting pants.
