Men's Brooks Down Vest

800 Fill 37.5 Active Down

$190.00 USD

Color/Pattern

Building on the success of our popular men’s jacket, the Brooks Down vest delivers ultralight, packable, backcountry insulation in an even lighter package. Built with 100 grams of DWR-treated, 800-fill power, 37.5-DownTek, this piece provides advanced, active insulation that fights off moisture to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable.

When you are miles deep into the backcountry, counting ounces is vital but never at the expense of staying warm and protected from the elements. With that balance in mind, the Brooks was designed using 50% more down than its closest competitor to be the lightest weight possible while ensuring best-in-class warmth. Whether you are packing into the high Tundra for caribou in August or climbing southwestern Sky Islands for Coues deer in January, the men's Brooks Down Vest is the trusted choice to guarantee your warmth while keeping your gear lightweight.

Great product

Very warm layering piece. Extremely lightweight and easy to pack. It’s great for when the weather changes unexpectedly and you need some extra insulation. I ordered a medium and the sizing was perfect.

great layering piece

So this vest is very different from their others. I feel it is meant to be used as a layering piece under other jackets. I have used this in 30 degree weather under my soft shell jacket. as something to help block the chill. It worked great. I wouldn't use it for an outer layer unless i was stuck without another layering piece. It is a bit noisy for that. This is the piece that will help cut the wind chill in a layering system. The fit in extra large is just right for me. I would use a different vest in a situation where i didnt need an under layer ,but this is a graet piece to keep in your pack for an emergency ,when the weather changes to colder conditions while your hunting.

Great Piece

Reminds me of the puffy 80s vests! It is amazingly warm and comfy. Layered it on a 30 degree Whitetail hunt and never got cold. It is great just to wear as an outer piece for the days in town as well! Only complaint is compared to the sweater (which I have in XL as well) it feels a bit more loose. Fits well but I could have almost went to a Large. Keep on making amazing products!
Size: I wear XL in almost everything for a top. I have bigger shoulders but athletic build.

Must have!

Awesome vest! Have used it with just a short sleeve under it to keep the core warm and works great for early season bow hunting in hot weather. Also used it in the early mornings as part of the layering piece and it did wonders for keeping me well insulated in about 30 degree weather. Very packable and a must have for your hunting outfit.

Stellar Vest

The Brooks Vest has been an essential piece of gear added to my collection. Perfect for the core insulation piece and even great as an outer layer. The Brooks vest provides the right amount of insulation and overage needed to stay warm yet breath. Highly recommend this vest for those wanting a great piece for backcountry hunting.

Great insulation piece

I wore this vest most of this fall and winter. It is extremely warm for the weight and very comfortable. The only two issues, the scalloped cut on the tail of the vest is a bit extreme - way longer in back than front. Also, the zippers and a few of the seams are starting to fray. Other than that, a great piece of gear.

I'll keep it

The fit is perfect and it is warm enough. The front is a touch long for me but I have a very sort torso so I expect that from everything and not specific to this vest. The color is way off, the tan is yellow, the brown is tan, and the white is washed out. Just based off of how far off the color was I almost returned it as soon as I saw it. After messing with it some wearing it and some thinking Im going to keep it. The camo with still work and most of the time it'll be in my pack or under a jacket so the look doesn't matter as much. my last compliant is that it is a little thin. For the price I expected more fill. It is still very warm for the size that it is and I'll end up just keeping my fleece layer on under it when it's needed and it'll definitely keep me from having to bring a puffy outer jacket on those in between days.

Disappointed

I own a lot of First Lite gear, I mean A LOT. Every piece has met or exceeded my expectations, until now. This vest is very, very thin. I can pinch the vest almost anywhere and there is usually very little or no insulation between my fingers. Although the vest looks great, it's functionality as a piece of insulating clothing is nil. For the price of this piece I was expecting MUCH more, again it's very stylish, just not very warm. Unfortunately as a Canadian customer, returning items is not very convenient or affordable so I'm stuck with it.
