Love the pants for hunting/camping. Having the zipper side is amazing for being able to cool down when need to. Very durable pant when breaking brush. The pants run a little small so size up. I normally wear 33’s and ordered 36, a little big but the suspenders are super useful.
These pants are excellent! They fit a bit tighter than the Sawbuck Brush pants I own (same size), but the features it incorporates are worth the price! Shedding layers off of the legs is generally impossible (at least with boots on), by using the side zipper to open the legs up enough to fit over wet boots offers an EXCELLENT feature as the day/environment changes. The knee pads are not cumbersome while hiking or getting around obstacles, yet extremely helpful when used in an unexpected slide down muddy trials. The fabric is warm and durable and the zippers operate with ease. The overalls that come with it offer an added bonus as waist sizes change with extra layers. Overall 10/10, but pick a waist size up, for long-johns and general weight gain during elk camp!
After being somewhat disappointed by the fit of the obsidian pants, I was hesitant to buy these online BUT I am very impressed by them so far. They fit great, I love the updated pockets, suspenders, and they are warm, durable, and quiet. Honestly, they are exactly what I was hoping they’d be.
Used my new Catalyst foundry pants on a Montana elk hunt . By far my favorite pants so far . Fit and finish are great . Every feature is thought out . 5star for sure !
Except for the PITA of paying fast shipping in order to get them prior to departing for my first guiding gig AND then finding the 34’s fit like 32’s (requiring a return & exchange) these pants have been awesome! Been wearing them for the past 20 days in temps from 60’s down to the high teens with blowing snow and they’ve performed extremely well. A light long John underneath for temps in the 20’s and below and I’m good. Pockets are well designed and work well. iPhone 12 slides easily into one of two front cargo pockets and valuables easily zip closed. Gaiters only necessary when snow got knee high. Length is great.
Used on moose hunt in Canada, kept me dry and comfortable all week.
These pants are great. The knee pads come out easily when not needed, which is most of the time. My wife says I look like a WW1 Calvary soldier when I have gaiters on. They are great for getting on and off a horse.
I wear them for everything. In the woods fishing hunting camping. Have 2 pairs. They keep you warn and dry in the rainforest on the west coast.
Heading out to Colorado for first elk hunt here soon. After checking weather, the temp is due to drop significantly the day we arrive. Had to get a heavier pant for the cold and went with the Catalyst Foundry. Out of the box, they are awesome. The fit is perfect and I'm sure are going to offer plenty of warmth when needed. Compared to the original Catalyst softshell, they are definitely upgraded. The side zips offer perfect heat dump ability when on the move, which is perfect because I tend to sweat quite a bit. Another feature I love is the addition of a left rear pocket that the original Catalyst doesn't have. Obviously, the added knee pads are also a great addition that will come in handy during stalks. Excited to get hunting and I have no doubt the Catalyst Foundry will be the perfect pant.
Have not full put them to the test. But they are amazing. You get what u pay for. Buy nice or buy twice. Sold all my Mothwing Sitka Gear and went FL
