Great hat. Even on a windy day this keeps you warm and if need be you can always add the merino neck garter and a hood and you'll have great warmth and wind protection. While walking through the woods the hat doesnt catch on anything and the brim keeps the sun out of your eyes and if I do not need the brim I just flip It up out of the way. Keep it up First lite, keep making great products.
I picked up this hat after a friend grabbed one just before our pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota in November. I was skeptical on the design and sizing comments from previous reviews but decided to add this to my Christmas list. I absolutely love this hat and have barely taken it off! For sizing, I normally wear a 7 3/8 in a fitted ball cap and the medium fit my head perfectly. I'd love to try a large to compare. I likely have just the very bottom of my ear lobes exposed but I also have enough room that I can snug it down if I really wanted to cover them up. The brim has been awesome keeping blowing snow off my eyes while walking my dogs on our back trails. I'll buy another. Only comment on the orange is it is VERY dull for "Hunter Orange". I went with a brown colour instead.
I second that the camo pattern is stretched out to show a little white through. I bought for duck hunting and so far I like it. I really like the short brim for shooting, and also keeping light rain off of your face. Runs a bit small.
Good looking hat that's warm and comfortable. Wish the brim was a bit sturdier. Also I got the hat in cypher and the brim stretched out the cam pattern to show a lot of the white underneath. I understand the the pattern doesnt go all the way through the merino threads but you'd think the could give some more slack in this section of the hat knowing that the brim would be inserted in it and stretching it out. Overall another great product.
I got this for whitetails in Illinois and Missouri and was very glad I did. I also wore this hiking in the Smokeys starting at 28 and the temps raised to 50 and wore it all but 30 minutes of the hike. The brim keeps the sun out of your eyes while it also allows you to flip the sides up and get your ears some air when it starts to warm up.
