The zip off feature where you don't have to remove your boots is very very nice and convenient. The wool didn't stink after wearing it for 4 days straight. The wool stayed dry and was perfect for 40 degree weather and climbing mountains. It fit me perfectly but still soft and stretchy enough that you don't feel any tightness on your legs. I am impressed. When you wash your wool, let it hang dry and DO NOT put it in the dryer. It will stink until it is completely dried out and then you won't smell it again.
I was a bit worried about ordering a M since I am 6'2" but their size chart was dead on. I haven't had a zip off pair of long johns before and I'm excited to try them out. I already washed them and fully ment to put them in on tumble dry but my wife threw them in the dryer on regular heat. I was pretty worried about shrinkage but when I tried them on they fit just fine! I don't think I'll try that again but it was nice to know that they held up to a simple mistake.
Not much more to say besides awesome invention by the first lite crew!!!
If you are looking at zipoffs, these are the way to go. Better fit compared to other brands and the warmth is versatile. Was looking at getting the furnace but these are heavier than I thought they'd be and much sifter than other merino I have in the same weight. Highly recommend. I'm a 30x32 and small fits perfect. Typically medium in every brand so this may help.
Awesome gear. Can’t wait to try in the field!!
Every time I slip into these buttery smooth long Johns my Double barrel twins look up at me glistening with approval. The level of pure love I have for these long Johns is so deep and profound it helped me understand the Bible better. Imagine the softest fleece blanket you’ve ever felt and the silkiest spandex material mixed together and pulled fresh from your grandmas dryer. That’s what these long Johns are. The zipper on the side that the claim is for easy removal when hunting’s true purpose is that when your wife sees you in these stud makers she’s gonna need quick access. If your looking to change your life for the better there is no investment that could compare to these bad boys. Buying these at the bargain of a price they’re at today would be like buying Bitcoin back in 2009. Dont miss out gentlemen, do yourselves a favor and pick up a pair today.
The kiln bottoms are incredibly useful with the full-length zippers. Gone are the days where you would have to contemplate, "do I sweat my $#@! off" vs time to get naked. It's no longer a hassle to layer your bottoms. As far as the layer itself, it is incredibly warm for all-day hunts and trips down into the 20's. I recently used this on a backcountry hunting/camping trip in northern PA with rain, sleet, and snow. And even when wet these retained their ability to create warmth well. I've also used them waterfowl hunting under my bibs and waders for the late season. That is where my only critique lies. In order for this product to be even more versatile, I think they could stand to benefit from adding a foot strap, maybe a removable one to use at the individual's discretion. I love using them with waders but sometimes (as with all clothing, this issue is no fault of first lite's solid gear) unless taped down they can ride up. Again, this is an amazing product, and would recommend it to anyone. I only have that single critique for future development.
I film/photograph hunting for a living and need minimal amounts of gear that cover a large range of conditions. Being from the south east, these bottoms were killer for early mornings glassing out west when i knew I could Zip them off before we made an approach on an animal. I also use them as a layering piece during whitetail season.
Best long johns I've ever owned. Incredibly comfortable and well built. The zippers seem very durable and they make a quick change easy on the go. Use them here in the late fall/winter southwest desert when its 20 in the morning and 60 midday where they are a must have. Run true to size.
What a brilliant product! I’m a 34x36 and they fit perfectly. Extremely warm yet easy to shed when you warm up. The zippers aren’t noticeable under pants or wearing a pack. You can literally take them off in 30 seconds with your boots on! I love the Velcro tabs that not only pad your waist from the zippers, but also hold the waist together while you line up the zippers to put them back on (they zip from the top down). I’m telling everyone I know how great they are. I will likely end up with the 3/4 length zip off fuse next. I have not had the zippers slide on me in use.
And why not a 3/4 length zip off kiln?!
