The Catalyst Vest is the best vest on the market. Have been using this vest for all season since spring bear hunting in Idaho, great fit, excellent insulation and perfect core mapping. Using the entire catalyst system together is awesome.
A must have in your gear line up.
This is an amazing vest! Perfect for layering, great breathability. I will definitely be ordering another. The only downside is Ash Grey in the picture appears darker than the actual product. I have a couple of wool pieces in Ash Grey and they are exactly like the photo. This vest is more steel blue than ash grey, which I imagine is the way the dye performs on the catalyst material. But the fit is great, the vest is durable, and adds warmth when paired under a solitude or even the catalyst jacket. I would definitely recommend getting this vest. It is going to be going everywhere I do.
This vest fit perfectly and is very comfortable. I was concerned with it being somewhat "stiff". But it is flexible, breathable, and quiet. I've worn it indoors as a daily driver in the office during the fall, as well as in the field. The biggest problem I have is trying to decide which color I am going to get next!
I was skeptical on what size to order in this vest because I’m pretty tall and slender but went with the xl and couldn’t be more pleased with the vest. Super warm as a layer or just wearing it out over a shirt casually. Love the vest and the way it fits.
After a full trout and archery season, wearing this vest or carrying it packed, I have come to the conclusion it is the most versatile piece of clothing FL makes. In the east and the south we are always looking for clothing that can provide a range of use, from 40's in the mornings to 70's in the afternoons. For this reason, I have always been enthusiastic about the functionality of a good vest. The catalyst is warm enough to wear as a shell over other layers and light enough to stow and go on a small pack when the temperatures rise. It has good pocket configuration and the overlap on the hand pockets is a nice touch. The napoleon chest pocket is large enough to fit an Iphone 11- so, pretty big. The feature I found most beneficial is the add length in the back. I under estimated the value of this extra material until I sat down to glass. There is nothing worse than a short vest or jacket the does not cover you lower back from wind and cold. For the first time I found a vest that covered my pant to shirt seam. The design is much appreciated.
I was so torn between the Catalyst and Sawtooth vests. The Catalyst is more of an outer layer and the Sawtooth is more of an insulating layer. I went with the Catalyst because it seemed it could take more abuse and daily wear than the Sawtooth as an outer layer. The Catalyst works amazing as an outer layer but is also a great insulating layer, which surprised me a little. It’s stretchiness makes it a very usable piece however you decide to use it. It’s very lightweight and much warmer than it looks. It fits great over multiple layers. I wear a medium in everything and have no fitment issues. I will probably purchase another just for daily wear. It really is a great piece!
Perfect layer. Looking forward to putting it through some good work in a couple of weeks in Colorado. Up and down some 14’ers so it will be a good test.
I'm 5'10, 205# w an athletic/muscular build. The Medium fits me well (not tight but not baggy either) and I can comfortably wear a hoody and or light jacket underneath.
I really like this vest. It makes a good early season (cool but not cold temps) addition to a clothing system. Many of my FL layers are built w/ venting on the back which is great for carrying a pack, but once you drop the pack the vest comes in real handy for that lil extra bit of warmth while sitting and spotting etc.
Out of the box the first thing you notice is the material. It's going to be great for tree stand bow hunting with how quiet it is. This is the first part of the catalyst system I've purchased so maybe I'm not up to speed but it seem a little thinner than I was expecting. Not necessarily a bad thing because I'm thinking I'll be able to wear it in slightly warmer weather but I'm also hoping it will also keep me moderately warm in cooler temps as advertised. Time will tell. Honestly the vest is a little boxy. Kind of reminds me of my Carhartt vest. I wear a small in everything first lite and I think if they had an extra small I would consider trying it out. The extra room isn't bad, per say, it allows me to layer a bit underneath if I want. I can get a kiln, furnace, and Klamath top on under the vest before it fills out fully. Overall I'm pleased and I think everyone needs this vest!
I am a big fan of the material used in the Catalyst line. Really excited to run the vest this season. I am standard XL in most tops, this vest does run large for me. I exchanged my XL for a L which is just slightly snug but since it's a layering piece, it should be perfect.
