I’m a pretty tall guy with long arms so finding jackets that fit well is often a challenge. This jacket fits like a glove, the sleeves are perfect, I can extend my arms out in front of me and the sleeves don’t budge, normally they fall back well behind my wrists. On top of that the jacket is very spacious so layering up and retaining freedom of movement isn’t a problem, especially when it comes to drawing a bow. I can’t wait to be using this jacket in a few months.
I had the OG Catalyst Jacket and really like it and thought it was versatile for hunting whitetails in the east. There were improvements for the whitetail hunter that could have been made and that is exactly what the FL team did with this jacket. The pass through in the back for a harness, the hood was redesigned for archers to have a solid anchoring point, and obviously adding on with the pass through to the bibs. All big improvements and I didn't mention the new Specter pattern which I believe is the best pattern out there. The jacket is ultra quiet, durable zippers and easy enough to pack away if needed. Great job and the fit is exactly the same as the original.
I don't have the original Catalyst jacket so I cant compare this one to the original. Runs a tad large in the torso area for layering I assume and the sleeves are a bit long for me as I am a 34/35 sleeve. Def quiet, zippers a tad noisy but not a big deal and comparable to Sitka, and the chest pockets are plenty big which I really like. I'd prefer pull strings on all of the zippered pockets. Hood is adjustable with a cinch strap on the back. Inside the two hand pockets are two straps to pull so you can tighten the waist down. Nice fleece lining inside should be nice for those October mornings when the temps finally drop. Looking forward to giving it a try this coming season. I didn't buy the bibs as I wanted to check out the jacket first but look forward to the reviews on those. I've been a Sitka guy for years but switched last year 100% to FL merino base layers and pants which I can use for deer, turkey, and big game.
So it fits… but I probably should have gone with an XL.
I added the merino hoodie and Klamath hoodie under it and it’s a pretty snug fit. Cut somewhat high in the front of the jacket. Other hoodies fit great in a Large. This was trim.
Since it’s an early season item - hopefully the hoodies can be layered on/off when the morning temps heat up.
Definitely look to the solitude 2 for more insulation in static stands.
I’m holding out for the furnace 2.0
