These pants are great! Love the side vents along with knee pads. I’ve had built on knee pad pants before and they never felt right but these don’t feel like that at all!I don’t notice them until I need them and at that point I have forgotten they are there and boom! Kneepads. It is the best feeling ever! The only thing is they are true to size. Don’t be like me and order the size you “will” be by the hunts. You won’t get into them! Order your true size!!!
While I have not put the pants through the paces yet, I wanted to comment on the fit for all the larger guys out there. I am 6’2” 230lbs. I wear a 38 jean and an XL in all FL pants (obsidian, corrugate, SEAK). While all of the aforementioned pants fit fine in the waist, I did find them a bit loose in crotch area. Not bad, just a bit loose. The new foundry corrugated in size 38/33 fit damn near perfect. There is stretch in areas you want stretch and form fitting (waist) in areas you do not.
The legs have a nice taper but are no where near “skinny” - if that were the case I would have shipped them back. They fit just fine over my Kenetrek’s and I am looking forward to putting them to good use come archery opener.
These pants are great. Two things I would loved changed is the part the suspenders hook into rub your side while walking and I wish there was mesh when you unzipped the legs. Other than than they are comfortable and nice to be able to vent while hiking.
Bought these after I used the catalyst pants last year and wanted a non insulated option. I wore them around the house today doing chores and loved the fit, I’m a 32 or 34 depending on the brand so I got a 34 to be safe and they are perfect not too tight so I can layer but not too loose that I can’t wear them by themselves. Will post another review after hunting season but my first impressions are they will be perfect for all seasons and situations
I have several pairs of the original corrugate pants, and they have been my favorite pants for a long time. Thus it was an easy decision to get a pair of the foundry corrugates. As with the regular pants, I love the flexibility and comfort offered by the pant's base material. I have never been a fan of the static nature or bulk that plagues a lot of kneepads on the market. The only pair of pants with kneepads that I have liked are Pata level 9 pants, which offer a removable soft pad with a removable hard shell. The foundry corrugates work in a similar fashion and allow me to have an internal soft pad when I want it, or to remove it when I don't need it. I'm typically hunting or guiding in rocky terrain, and the kneepads add a nice level of comfort that reduces the impact of rocks on my knee in trios situations. Besides comfort, I believe that they reduce the hesitation to get prone/kneel for a shot rapidly in rough terrain.
I've worn them with temperatures in the 90s and I find that they are warmer than I prefer for the summer even with the new vents open. They weren't designed as warm weather pants, so I'm sure that they will be my go to pant come cooler weather. Length wise the pants fit great, but the waist is a little larger on me as I'm typically a 29/30. While its more of a problem on my end, the original corrugates fit me perfect.
Finally! I’ve been looking for some good looking pants that are lightweight and have good stretch and most importantly, with built in knee pads for a while now and these work great. My buddy had a pair on our spring bear hunt this year and the knee pads worked awesome when processing our harvest and I thought they would be excellent work pants for me. I’m outside all year round and spend a lot of time kneeling on the cold ground and after a while it takes it’s toll on the knees and so far these have worked perfectly.
I've heard these things talked up by a bunch of friends, and they set the bar high enough that I was prepared to be let down - after all, they're pants. How great can they really be.
That's the way I was thinking, anyway, until I spent half the night processing a bear by myself on a landscape choked with sticks and thorns. The importance of the kneepads in these pants in a situation like that cannot be overstated. As has been said elsewhere, you forget they're there until you need them. But when you do, man oh man. I'd figured the kneepads would maybe be helpful in antelope hunting or some select stalking situations and that's it, but I was wrong. Processing, stalking, glassing, or just rummaging around in the truck bed, these things are the best. The vents are also a huge help, and while they do fit a bit snug (if I could change one thing it would be to go back to the more elastic waist band of the old corrugate pants), they're built in a way that allows for full range of motion even if that's the case.
Fit great and feel amazing although I wish the side zipper had a 2nd slider. Right now it is all or nothing with the zipper if you want the vent open by your knee and not your waist.
Other than that great pant
Excellent pants!! I've caught myself wearing these for a outdoor activities, so much I've purchased all three pairs. Obsidian pants are a perfect fit size 32, bit I find corrugates little tight with 32. Only a problem with a mid base layer, but found to be perfectly snug and comfortable for warm weather!!! Great gear!!
Best pants I've ever owned. I was very sceptic being a small guy on how the pants would fit, But after some reassurance from the customer service chat, I was told that the smallest size available actually fits a bit smaller They ended up fitting perfect, which is normally a hard thing for me to find. I will be purchasing a 2nd pair in future for sure.
