Great hat. Material is great can get hot like any other hat when hiking in the heat but dries out very fast. The fit is a classic 5 panel hat similar to what fixed gear bikers wear instead of a cycle hat. Wear it during all aspects of life, which obviously includes hunting.
Only thing I modified was the back snap has extra material that cannot tuck under the hat, so I used electrical tape to hold down the rear strap that is loose.
Almost perfect. Bill is fully crushable but always returns to a flat bill, unable to shape.
Originally bought this hat to use for the bow season and now I end up wearing it all the time. The fit is great, no break in period whatsoever. It's extremely lightweight, decently breathable. On hotter days like 80° and above you're still going to sweat in it, but wicks moisture and dries very quickly, so it rarely stinks. Only one downside is the brim is pretty flexible, so you if you want to keep a slight bend in it, you sort of have to bend it every once in a while back, but I don't totally mind that. Overall, excellent purchase, I take it everywhere, and the FirstLite Fusion looks great.
Its a great hat made with really nice breathable material that you can pack anywhere without worrying about destroying it, but it has one problem. It runs small, and the rear strap for tightening and loosening it is worthless because the hat itself doesn't loosen beyond the standard fit. Thankfully its just a touch snug on me, but if my head were any bigger it wouldn't work. If i loosen the strap, the strap is loose, but the hat still fits tight around my head. It doesn't really expand even thought the strap has been expanded.
I took this thing out on a few antelope hunts early in the season where the temps were in the mid to high eighties. My head did get a little warm while I was hiking and that's when I realized how much I love this hat. I took it off and carried it in my hand for about a minute and then put it back on. Evaporative cooling must have kicked in because when I put it back on my head, it felt like I had dipped it in an ice cold creek. I'll definitely have this out with me from now on during early season hunts.
