Will update, but so far so nice! 3/3/2018

I am no novice to being out in the cold (dealing with horses all my life) but I am definitely new to First Lite and their products. I purchased these bottoms with the intention of staying warm on my trip to Finland. They are incredibly soft, the seams are flat and there are no tags to poke you. I am an athletic but thicker built woman who is 5'1 and 148 lb. The squat life is real, so I carry a good bit of weight in my stems. I opted for a size small and I am glad I did. The length is perfect and while I wish they came up a smidge higher, I think the mediums would have been a bust. I have some awesome expectations for these, I will definitely update this review after I spend a few days in the Arctic Circle trekking around. Loving what First Lite is doing, will definitely be a repeat customer!

Odd fit 12/31/2017

Bought these for the wife in medium and small due to other's reviews of odd sizing. She is 5'7" 140, fairly curvy. The waist was too big in the mediums which fit her legs well, the small fit her waist but the legs were way too tight, they would not have kept her warm. Also she says the cut is too low on the waist band as well. Nice material but FL needs to re-shape

Great Idea, Poor Execution 10/24/2017

I really really wanted these to work, Merino wool, articulated knees, flat stitching, Women's fit.... it al sounded perfect!

But there are a few failures to the product that I'd love to see fixed. It seems that these pants were cut to be yoga pants but made with fabric for their intended use, meaning not yoga pants.

The fit is super flattering looking but the waist band is too low for their use... if you squat down the waistband slides down to expose your bum, not useful for keeping the cold out. It would be better if they designed the waist band to be more like a high waisted "fold over" style yoga pant, it would be great if they made the waist band out of a different material with spandex so the fit was more dynamic.

The merino fabric was fabulous! Would not change a thing about that, also the articulated knee was great.

BUT the length was too short. It seemed like they were cut to be a 7/8th style length which again, is super cute but not functional for their intended use as a hunting base layer.

I'm 5'5 and 115lbs, I bought the XS and they were too short and the waist was too big. The thighs and butt fit perfectly.

Please re-design these pants Firstlite! The idea is awesome, but the end product is meh... maybe make two products out of this... a 100% merino functional base layer with a high waist and long leggs, the other more of a yoga pant material / fit for warm weather hunting / casual use.

Close to Perfect 10/11/2017

5'1", 103lbs. Ordered the XS in Conifer. I'm pleasantly surprised to find that it fits lengthwise. The pants end an inch or two above my ankles. The seams (ie one behind the knee) hit where they should. However, I agree with previous reviewers in that the waistband is much too loose and would benefit from one that is adjustable.

The material is breathable, flexible, and durable. Great build, reinforced seams, impressive quality. I do appreciate the orange accent.

Great Material but poor fitting 10/1/2017

Love First Lite in general but the sizing is off the wall for womens.. I'm 5"8 and 125lbs I bought these in a XS they fit perfect through the legs but big on the waist also they where about 8inches to short. I decided I'll stick with men's and just wear everything loose.

New favorite thing!! But yes, size down! 8/29/2017

Personally, I love these pants so much, I ordered a second pair. I did size down as per other reviews. According to the size chart, I should wear a Medium, but the Small fit perfectly. The elastic in the waist band could be a little bit more beefy, but as is, it's not binding or restrictive. I wore them to work today with a sweater as leggings. I squat a lot at work and didn't feel like I had to be constantly pulling them back up again, so I'm optimistic that they will hold up through lots of other movement as well. I have a 30" inseam and these end an inch or two above my ankle. I'm pretty psyched with that because everything else I get is too long, but I thought that might be helpful to include for taller gals. I think if you're putting a pair of tall socks over top of them, it's not much of an issue though. It might even better as it would cause less chafing depending on how tall your boots are. I look forward to testing these out during ski season as well!

Comfortable and warm a great base layer! 8/7/2017

The Larkspur full length bottoms are incredibly comfortable, warm, and layer very well. Whether over the Syringa shorts, another pair of Larkspurs or under my First Lite outerwear they stay in place, and with no bulk they don't bunch or creep up.
An asset to your base layering system!

Great base layer 8/6/2017

I really love the feel and performance quality of merino. These are great as a base layer for when it's super cold out, and I personally love wearing them when we're camping out or backpacking because I tend to never be warm enough. The quality is superb, they're beyond comfy.
The only thing I would change about these is their fit around the waist. I'm almost 5'10" and the length doesn't bother me paired with high socks- they're a base layer after all and not an outerwear pant. That being said, I had to exchange my size S for an XS as they kept falling at my waist when hiking (under my alturas). I would maybe like a drawstring to help hold them in place as I put the miles on and they loosen around the waist a bit. Other than that, these are amazing!

Perfect for cooler weather 6/29/2017

I love these pants as a base layer while I am hunting in cooler weather. They are thicker and keep you warm and comfortable. I have not had issues with them not staying in place but I can see how that could happen. I purchased a L and probably could have fit into a M.

Perfect for cooler mornings 6/1/2017

These are the perfect base layer! I'm generally a size small or 2 in women's and I ordered these in a small and they fit perfect. I wore them last elk season in the CO mountains and they were the perfect addition to the Alturas Guide Pant on the cooler days. Not too bulky so I could still hike, but stay warm while we were stopped glassing.

Good base layer 4/11/2017

Just a great addition to my hunting tool chest...great warm base layer for those very cold mornings.

Warm and comfy base layer! 3/29/2017

I really like this base layer, but as other reviewers stated, they need a little improvement. I'm 5'3 and about 120 lbs, and I got the size small. The waist is a little loose on me, and they hit a couple inches above my ankles; however, they stayed put underneath my Alturas guide pants and I wear long hiking socks over them so the short length isn't a huge issue. Other than that, they are comfy and warm! I would say they are a little warm for hiking in 50-70 degrees, but they are nice for hiking in cooler temps and glassing/stand sitting, etc. I wore them sitting in a turkey blind in morning temps that were down into the upper 30s and low 40s and my legs did not get too cold. I think the sizing is accurate, and hopefully they fix the issues people are having with the loose waist and short length. I would certainly buy them again in more colors!

Comfortable but can get very warm 3/26/2017

I wore these under the altura's guide pants turkey hunting, and I live in Georgia. They were great for the morning when it was a little cooler out, however as they day went on and the temperatures went up I had to take them off because they got to warm. They are very soft and comfortable, and not once before the sun came up did my legs get cold.

nice base layer 3/17/2017

I really like the feel, cut and fit. I bought a large based on sizing guide. I could probably use a medium for waist size, but the large is already way too short in the legs. I am 5' 8" with a 32 inch inseam. When wearing they are about 4 inches above my ankle.

Great material and awesome customer service! 1/1/2017

I ordered these around the Christmas holiday. I originally ordered a medium, and like the previous reviews state, the waist line was a little too loose for a base layer. I exchanged for a small which the waist line fit great although the length hit right at/above my ankles. I don't mind this as I will be wearing tall socks. I am EXTREMELY happy with the orange and tan stitching as it unfortunately is difficult to find women's gear that does not have pink stitching or accents. THANK YOU First Lite, it is appreciated! The exchange process was also quick and easy even around the holiday.

Too warm, but comfy 11/28/2016

These are extremely comfortable, very soft wool, nothing to pinch or bind. I appreciate the fact that the waistband is soft and not an elastic band to cut into you. I had no problems with them staying in place during my mountain goat hunt, and that is a lot of extreme movement. Unfortunately, they are way to thick. I am glad wool is odor mitigating because they were soaking wet with sweat before lunchtime everyday and it was snowing outside. These are probably really good for stand hunting, and they are great for the cold nights in a tent on the mountain, but way too hot (especially under rain gear) for constant movement mountain hunting. This product with zipper sides, so it could be easily put on when you stop and wait would be perfect. Or a lighter material for all day wear would be great as well.

Great material but I agree needs improvement 9/16/2016

I too love the fabric and the pattern. I own several upper layers and wear them all winter long. I actually returned these because like other reviewers said, they will not stay put. If you are tracking, scouting, hiking, you are going to be fidgeting. I think I figured out the issue and why these feel short too. The fabric is a 2 way stretch so when you put them on they stretch side to side ( 2 way) and this pulls up on the length since it cant stretch in that direction so the crawl up your ankle. I measured the inseam and off they were a true 28 and when you put them on they would be a 24-25. I think if they added a couple of inches that could solve the problem. This is also the issue with the waist band. I appreciate they tried to make a " cute " womens cut. But these are like teen low risers and not the right fabric to make a " yoga" style bottom without a 4 way stretch. The mens have an elastic band to keep them up . They are really flattering though if that is important in your base layer. Hope this helps!

Awesome bottoms! 5/10/2016

I love these pants but also agree with Rachel from above. I am 5'8" and I purchased a medium. They fit great, but as I wore them over my 9 day elk hunt in the mountains--the waist would slide down. I have an athletic build as well. I also did wash them a couple of times (air dry) and they shrunk. So now they are more like capris on me! :)

Still love them, though...and am looking at purchasing another pair for this fall's elk hunt! Curious about the women's new pants--and wish they would come out with sort of a "biking short" type bottom that was a little longer than the Syringa Short. Maybe someday!!!

Great material and quality; cut needs improvement 4/7/2016

I love First Lite products, and especially the merino wool and the pattern. The material and stitching was high quality, but the cut on these pants just wasn't quite right. I'm only 5'1", with an athletic build and I got a size XS. The waist band either needed to be more elastic and tighter around the waist and/or higher, and the legs needed to be longer. Every time I squatted down I was always trying to pull these pants up. Looking forward to a new version of these coming out though.
