Missed the Mark 11/15/2018

I was disappointed with these gloves. I love the fact they have tried to make a glove that bow hunters can have a release on with, but I think this has not hit the mark. First off I found that my release just could not fit right under it. No matter how I tried I could not get it to sit right. They also felt a bit bulky for bow hunting gloves. More importantly the feel with the trigger finger sucks. Feels like the equivalent of trying to thread a needle wearing oven mitts.
They were warm and comfortable as just gloves but I opted to not wear these when it came time to put bow in hand, deer in freezer. I found the finger-less gloves more suited for my release hand.

How it fits
As a glove they fit my hand fine, but as an archery glove, the release just didn't feel right with these.

I like the glove but little stiff mine are med and still fingers are little long,24 degrees and another pair on underneath and my hand still got cold, may or may not supposed to be used for these temps and also I’m not a bow hanger I keep my bow in my hand at all time... and we all get snot at these temps well don’t wipe your nose with these...but over all I’m still glad I’ve got them...

How it fits
Fingers little long, you have to pull them off to do anything with hands..

Not a snug fit 11/3/2018

I'm currently sitting in my tree stand looking at an arrow in the ground. It's there because I was practicing clipping and unclipping my release and had slight tension on the string. These gloves are too baggy in the finger tips, which makes it very difficult to feel my release. A bit of the extra material caught on my release and down went my arrow. Before purchasing, I suspected fit in the fingers might be a problem, you can even kind of see it in the product photos. And it is. I definitely wouldn't recommend this for bow hunters, especially if you have a real sensitive release.

How it fits
Too much room in the fingers, and I have fairly large hands.

still looking for the right backcountry cold weather glove 10/11/2018

i'm a person who easily gets cold fingers when I hunting. have always wanted a glove that prevents that and still allows decent hand function. these gloves are ok. the warmest fl glove i've used but seem a little bulky and not a fan of the release hole thing. i didn't use it (i shoot with a handheld release) but not sure i would if i did use a wrist rocket style release. something about executing a shot, this is just more glove than i'm comfortable with. i would prefer if they did away with the hole and velcro for a simpler gauntlet. these are probably great for rifle hunting but that's not my thing

Awesome Glove 8/31/2018

Absolutely love these gloves. I hunt in middle TN and use them from spring turkey to late fall deer. They fit great, true to sizing listed on site. Breathable enough to not get sweaty hands on warmer days. Comfortable for bow or gun

Almost Great 8/30/2018

I love everything about this glove except the pull tab. Our seasons aren't particularly cold here so the weight and weather resistance is great. On cold days a merino liner adds just enough warmth. My problem is the pull tab tore loose the first time I wore them. I don't know if its a design issue or quality control, but it was disappointing.

Great first layer 8/30/2018

I have found this to be a perfect first layer. On cooler days they do great to keep the hands nice and warm and as it gets colder I have taken the liner out of my warmer mits and use these as the liner. They are water resistant and do great in all hit the wettest weather.

Multipurpose glove 8/30/2018

A well-made glove that has stood up a ton of environments the past year. Wore it for whitetails and chased down a poorly-shot 8 point for about 3 miles. Went thru brush, briars, and later some water. Dry hands the entire time. In the tree stand, they are warm down to at least 30 degrees in my opinion. Have also worn them duck hunting and this is where I think they perform best - when wet. Always dry. When temps get lower, I usually add a pair of Talus. I agree with some of the other reviews asking for a liner, but all in all, I think these are great gloves that have stood up for over two seasons of usually dirty, smelly, wet, cold environments.

Ehh, they're okay. Good quality, not so good fit 8/29/2018

So I was initially pretty excited about these gloves as gloves seem to be an overlooked piece of gear. I have relatively small hands so I went with the Medium per the sizing chart. The gloves are nice, but I just don't like the fit. I am not sure if it is my hands or what but these gloves seem a little too short in the crease of the finger. Its like the glove gives me webbed hands if that makes sense. I am not sure if my fingers are a tad too long or what. Overall, the quality of the gloves are nice but I would like to see the fit be improved upon. Just not comfy enough to wear all day

How it fits
Fit was weird, the creases don't seem to be deep enough for my hands.

Warm 8/29/2018

Gloves fit alittle big, I have Burger King hands so that was to be expected I ordered a small and they still just feel like my hands are swimming in the gloves. I ordered these since they don’t have any liner gloves and I needed something to conceal my hands for turkey hunting. But I should be able to use these up to late season.

Great glove but a bit difficult with release 8/29/2018

I've got to agree with another review on here. Great glove, great grip, durable, warm enough, great idea with the space for the wrist release but everything kind of bunches making it harder. Not unmanageable, just more difficult.

How it fits
Fit is perfect. I have sausage fingers and big palms so finding gloves that fit can be difficult, the fingers are usually too narrow or if I get a larger size, too long. No issues here though. A little tight in the palms, but not bad at all.

Awesome Gloves 8/28/2018

I got these for moose hunting and a back country caribou hunt in alaska and they work great and are very warm. I can easily shoot my rifle with these on and I'm sure if I had a different style bow release (one that doesn't attach to your wrist) they would work great for that too. Easily stored when you dont need them and they get the job done.

One Season Later 8/3/2018

I had originally posted my review last year, using the glove for my first season. You can read that below.

I will try not to repeat my original review too much, so I will just cover my biggest likes and gripes with this glove.

Likes:
-still the durability
-fantastic grip with bow, even in the wet
-good feel when using firearm (shotgun)

Gripe:
-I cannot budge on my stance of the ineffectiveness of the 'Release Portal'; No matter how used-to-it I have tried to get over a year of shooting, I cannot get over how uncomfortable it is to draw and hold because the glove is bunched forward in order for my wrist release to be in the right spot at the base of my palm. My workaround for this is to wear my wrist release tightly over the glove's cuff, pretty much negating the initial purpose of the glove's design. At least this way I can still get use out of these glove in cold weather with better results
-velcro still sucks, but I have just resorted to pulling on/off my glove as I would any other, instead of undoing the strap.
_____

Initial review:

I had high expectations for these gloves given the reviews and seeming to be tailored to the bow hunter. However, they do not fit or function the way I would like. They are also not the warmest in the late season or wind, but a liner would help. I am obsessed with all of my other FL gear, but these let me down.

Positives:
-Great quality and durable
-Weather resistant
-Great grip

Negatives:
-My worst complaint:the 'release portal' is a great idea, but in practice it sucks. When drawing my bow, the glove bunches forward in the palm since the opening and 'scrunchy' cuff is too far back on the wrist. This ruins my anchor points, dexterity and feel of the trigger. The fix? Move the opening up towards the palm! Releases are meant to sit at the base of your palm, so that is where the opening should be.
-The fingers are really short compared to the width. I have slim and small hands, and the Medium fit well in width but the bottom of the fingers come nowhere near the webbing of my fingers. This means decreased dexterity.
-The excess material on the finger tips. Not sure if this can be fixed given sewing thick material like leather requires it, but dexterity is once again compromised, and that is not favourable for bow hunting and trigger feel
-Velcro! I read a review a while ago with somebody complaining about velcro and how that is a big problem with noise for bow hunting. I thought that was a silly complaint because who fiddles with their glove when lying in wait for deer? Well, as it turns out, I do. When I find myself needing to take off my gloves to access pockets or make gear adjustments, I hate the fact that I have to choose between not being able to replace the glove cuff neatly over my jacket cuff, or doing so and risking spooking everything by ripping velcro.

Tough, durable, and perfect for the midseason 1/25/2018

These gloves were purchased for fall hunting and they are amazing. I have abused them more than I should have and I am amazed how well they have held up. Through clearing trails and using a chainsaw, these gloves did it all. The cuff/velcro strap is a little long if you don't like that, but I had no problem with it. Definitely worth it.

Great innovative glove 1/22/2018

I was having trouble with getting my release to fall in the correct spot while shooting with gloves. During practice sessions my gloves would be slipping under the pressure of the release. Enter the FirstLite shootin glove 2.0...

My release positions perfectly with these gloves despite the shooting duration. They are very warm. I shot for a few hours in <20 weather and they keep my fingers manageable, not toasty warm, but my practice Deion wasn’t hindered by frozen fingers. With further inspection appear very durable. I have not washed them so cannot attest to any shrinkage. They sized up pretty good. I was an XL and they fit the length of my fingers perfectly. The palm has a little more baggyness which is ok with me. The goat leather feels great and the cipher camouflage looks better in person.

OK glove in ideal weather 12/16/2017

I got caught in a hail storm with these gloves and other first lite gear while in Colorado last year. I expect more out of an expensive glove and water repellent ability to be better.

Verstile gloves 12/4/2017

Bought these using the size chart on the website and they were a little to big, I'm a fairly large guy and ordered a size large but I probably would have fit in mediums better. I've used these for bow hunting, rifle and bird hunting and they're great. I'm not a huge fan of the Velcro cuff because it does catch on a lot, including whatever sleeve I have causing the wool to pull out on my Llano and Chama

Awesome Glove! 11/25/2017

Bought these along with a pair of the Aerowool liner gloves, and I am very pleased. The palm material is crazy durable, the seams are tough, and by themselves they are surprisingly warm. Paired them with the liner gloves and I had warm hands into the low 50s and upper 40s. I used that same combo on a rainy pig hunt where temps never got above 45 degrees. My hands were soaked, but they never got cold. All in all a very versatile and dependable glove. Highly recommend!

After using these gloves on a boat with 30 mph winds, I will say that they are very effective at keeping your hands warm. Even with water occasionally splashing on the gloves, they never fail to keep my hands warm and dry. Excited to see how they hold up to the snowy days of rifle hunting in Michigan this year. In combination with the Aero wool glov liner, you can not go wrong

Pretty good glove 7/8/2017

I like the fit and construction of these gloves. They are a lot warmer than I expected and work great with a liner when needed. Performed great for waterfowl hunting and fishing and are great camp gloves in snowy conditions. My only complaint is the velcro. It snags my merino base layers and irritates my wrist. It's not an issue when wearing a shell that I can wrap it on the outside of but I will not wear these during archery and early rifle seasons for the reasons listed above.

A GREAT GLOVE RUINED 5/31/2017

AN OTHERWISE GREAT GLOVE RUINED BY THE ADDITION OF VELCRO AT THE CUFF.

GREAT FIT, NICE LEATHER PALM, BUT THE VELCRO AT THE CUFF TOTALLY TURNED ME OFF OF THESES GLOVES. IT IS BULKY, NOISY AND GETS CAUGHT ON EVERYTHING, INCLUDING FIRST LITE WOOL BASE LAYERS, AND RUINS THEM.

A LEATHER TAB PULL ON GLOVE IN VIRTUALLY THE SAME DESIGN WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER.

If I'm being honest 4/9/2016

If I'm being honest I do not care for these gloves. But the reasons are solely personal as I HATE a long cuff glove. Other than that I love the material, and the fit in the actual hand/fingers is good. If you don't mind or prefer a longer cuff these gloves will not disappoint you.

Great Fit and Construction and very warm for weight, not bulky 4/8/2016

Great glove as far as construction, fit, and warmth. I was actually surprised how warm it was for the lack of bulk. Certainly not a cold weather tree stand glove but for mid season sits or active hunters it is a great option for warmth and dexterity. My only complaint was the leather on the palm face felt slick, this may change as the leather breaks in. I like the wrist strap design as it works perfectly for an archery release.
