Men's SEAK Stormtight Pant
3.5-Layer Waterproof Construction

The SEAK system is the answer when precipitation is not a vague possibility but a continuous reality. Created with feedback from Pacific bear and blacktail guides and inspired by commercial fishing dry suits, the SEAK pants are built for all-day hunts in constant rain and are designed to be worn alone as your primary pants or as an outer layer, over insulating base layers. The 3.5 layer construction utilizes a highly breathable 37.5 laminate to evacuate humidity created by the body while keeping out exterior moisture, keeping you comfortable on the move. The pants boast full zip legs making getting them on or off a cinch and a unique design puts suspenders off your back and out from under your pack. Roll-top dry pockets keep gadgets safe from the elements. Unlike many "just-in-case" rain layers, an articulated cut and impressive breathability means you can comfortably hike and hunt in the SEAK system all day long, making these pants the answer for hunters operating in the wettest climates.

Definitely waterproof 4/8/2019

This piece of gear does everything they say it does.

How it fits
Little snug in the waist. I wear 36-38 and large waist was a bit snug especially if I wanted to wear guide pants underneath. But it’s not too bad if I’m just wearing long johns underneath.

Not very waterproof in my opinion 3/17/2019

This was not what I was hoping for. These were expensive and they arent even insulated. I also was thinking that they must really be high quality and keep you super dry. I was wrong they soak through after about an hour. They also fit smaller than what they claim in their recomendations. I was really excited to get them and am very disappointed. I loved the insulated hunting pants but they werent waterproof at all. They do sell them as deer hunting apparel and so I think its on me thinking they would be good for waterfowl hunting. Expensive lesson learned.

Reliability and Versatility 3/16/2019

Well, I'm glad I waited to write this review today! I purchased this system back in the fall. I wanted to make sure I put the system through its paces so that I could give an honest review. I purchased the SEAK Stormtight pant and jacket with several things in mind. I wanted to have something that would take me from the wet autumn months straight through until spring. I've found the SEAK Stormtight jacket and pants essential pieces of kit. I've worn them through the fall for all my waterfowl hunts, straight through the winter on various hikes and ice fishing trips which when paired with a decent layering system acted as an excellent windbreak that kept me dry and warm. The jacket and pant have been put through their paces as of recently on an extremely rainy and windy outing where I deemed it a good idea not to bring my shelter. The wind was gusting, and the air temperature was about four degrees Celsius, all this and heavy rainfall. Though I did not have the tent, the Stormtight system performed admirably. The product is well built, fits great (fits well with layers underneath) and operates effectively. It is versatile and packs quite small and light. The only thing I would improve on it is the possible addition of a small lanyard or slightly larger handle to the zippers, which would make manipulating it much easier with thicker gloves on. I would 100% recommend this system to anyone spending time in the bush, as it can function through 4 seasons and is ruggedly built to withstand the worst the weather has to offer.
Happy Hunting!!!

Fragile 12/17/2018

So I have no been using these for about 2 months, 2-3 times a week.

While I still think the design is excellent and perfect for hunting, I am increasingly unimpressed by their durability.

First, the suspenders fell apart - the stitching where the straps join the buckles came apart.

Then they started developing holes - lots and lots of holes. It seems that brushing against fallen branches, pushing through thick brush or, worst, crawling over anything other than wet grass tears them up. Mine are now a patchwork of emergency duct tape repairs.

My feeling now is that they are fine for walking in on defined trails, or sitting glassing/in stands, or for dog walking. But they are questionable as back country hunting trousers.

Reasonable - worth a punt 11/20/2018

Overall, very well designed for hunting indeed - extremely easy to get on and off, and the thigh pockets are superb.

I do like them a lot, and wear them 2-3 times a week in constantly miserable Scottish conditions. However, they aren’t perfect. You do still get damp in them. Not wet, but if you have to crawl any distance on wet or boggy ground, water starts to seep through at the knees. I suppose this isn’t really a major issue for most, but here we crawl - a lot. You also get a damp butt if you have to sit for very long on wet ground.

Best all around rain pants for wet weather 10/18/2018

So far they have been great as the main rain pant I carry or wear. In between lightweight packable pants and heavy brush busting Helly Hansen’s. I carry these most of the time now as they are durable but reasonably packable and most important actually waterproof in the heavy Alaska rain and hurricane force winds I always end up in. Love the suspenders too. The orange logo drives me nuts as it catches my eye all the time so that will be rubbed off soon. I’ll definitely be recommending these and will likely try the jacket out soon.

How it fits
I’d say you want to run up half a size if you want to layer much or they are true to size if you like just thermals underneath. I am almost always half way between M and L so I bought the large and can layer heavily underneath but still aren’t annoyingly loose with basic hiking pants underneath.

Great Lightweight Packable Raingear 10/12/2018

I bought the Stormtight Pants primarily for a 10 day trip to Scotland where my wife and I hunted Red Stag. I wanted something packable and light that was in a camo pattern so that I could also carry it while hunting and guiding back home in Wyoming. The first couple times I used the raingear was on archery elk hunts at high elevation in September. I was pleased with how little room they took up in my pack and how light the pants were. The real test of the pants, however, was in Scotland. It rained constantly on our hunt and for the week that we spent in the country after we killed our stags. These pants kept me warm and dry when we had nasty weather and provided a good barrier against the cold winds that we encountered. They also withstood crawling through heather and bushwhacking through some areas with a lot of dense vegetation with no signs of damage. The thing that I liked most about the pants was that I did not become overheated when we were hiking up steep terrain and between bouts of rain. I also really liked how easy it was to take the pants off or put them on with my boots on. I got a lot of compliments on the rain gear from some of the German and Austrian hunters we met, as well as some of the game keepers. I would highly recommend.

Smaller than expected 9/21/2018

I love the material, layout and construction of these pants. It is no surprise to me that there was a lot of thought that went into these; just like all the other FL products. I own the SEAK jacket, Boundary stormtight pants and the Stormlight jacket (along with many other FL products). I have used those 3 raingear products in the field and have been extremely impressed with each for different uses. I was hoping I could completely round out my 'hard core raingear' with the SEAK pants. But the fit in the waist is tighter than all my FL pants...raingear and the others I own. These pants are about 1" tighter in the waist and has less elasticity when compared to the Boundary Stormtight pants. I have pictures showing the difference and it is noticeable. Not sure why they trimmed an inch off of these pants. The videos and description show it going over other pants. I do see a few others share this sentiment. If you have other FL pants in a specific size and expect these to fit similar, you may be dissapointed. 5 stars for the material, layout and construction and 1 star for the fit (by comparison to other FL pants). My thoughts anyways. I may end up just dealing with it since there really is no other raingear on the market that compares to the SEAK line...not even close. Seriously, there isn't.

How it fits
Smaller in the waist than other FL pants I own. Very noticeable in pictures and measuring tape.

Impressive piece of gear 9/20/2018

I really like these rain pants. They are not super lightweight, but they are durable and will keep you dry in a downpour. I used them in colorado high country in September chasing mule deer. Rain gear needs to also be shelter in a pinch for me, and these can do it. I love the front pockets on these and kept my cell phone dry in heavy rain. I love that the waste comes up a bit high leaving no room for water running down your pants in the back while seated. And even though the suspenders are a little more weight I didn't mind packing them so that I don't have to pack 2 belts or have to decide between the belt for my corrugates. The suspenders do a great job of keeping them up while moving and they are comfortable to move in. I love that they are full zip!

How it fits
They say get them in the same size as your pants. I wear a corrugate in M and I have the SEAK stormtight in Medium also. I would say they are formfitting at the least or snug. In some situations while glassing I would like to put a puffy pant on with my rain pant over to break the wind. You would definitely want to size up for that. If I did it over I may try the large. I have a 34" waste. But the snug fit is functional while moving, not too baggy. They are snug around the boot and may be able to eliminate gaiters for weight.

Great waterproof outer layer 9/9/2018

These pants will keep you dry. They are light and fit well. They are a little noisy but not any more then any other completely water proof garment. They have a lot of great features and its nice to be dry at end of day. I still wear my wool when i can but somedays it just rains to hard and thats when i wear these.

Southeast Alaska Approved. 9/1/2018

These pants are wonderful. A lot of thought went into them as they are extremely ergonomical and comfortable. And when it’s dumping rain, these are what I throw on over my pants. I sized up one size just for that. Smartest decision I’ve ever made. Hunt longer, hunt harder.

Seriously, do yourself a favor, if it dumps rain, get the pants.

How it fits
Fit great. I sized up to wear them as an outer. I wear a size 36 pants and the XL fits over other pants nicely.

Anywhere any time 8/30/2018

I just bought the full set up of SEAK rain wear and I'm impressed. It's durable, packable, it breaths, and is of good quality. This shit will last for years. I have had many other rain set ups and nothing compares. The seals are flawless and the material is strong yet light, no worries in ripping it. Wen't through some gnarly hail and rain first couple days of archery and it put a smile on my face knowing that I"m gonna have no concern staying dry. The SEAK setup will be the last rain wear you buy.

Incredibley tough and well made design. 8/30/2018

Very comfortable and well made. They did the trick keeping me completely dry while fishing in South East Alaska and while hunting Sitka Black Tail through the rainforest. I plan on using them for those late season hunts in Utah to help with wind chill and high snows. These held up nicely while I bush whacked trails through the rainforest as well. No tears and with the rigid boot cuff at the bottom of the pant leg no water ever got in.

Money well spent 8/29/2018

So I got my 3 layers from first lite and Im yet to try it this season.. I have my first thermal layer, neck and brambler gaiters, sawtooth, obsidian pants and full seak!

I got the saw tooth in medium, but it's a bit tight around my shoulders, my seak is medium as well and is dead on, but the seak pant waist seems a bit tight with all my layers on, the design is amazing, and all around I think it's well worth it. This is a life time investment for years on!
One thing I regret is getting the sawtooth in medium, because I'm 5'11 210lbs,and I shouldve gotten a large, but I'm on a diet to drop to 195. Hopefully it'll be looser by then!

I'm in Oregon and my season comes up in Sept 29th-oct 10th for eastern Oregon white tail, so we'll see how it goes with the gear, mostly looking forward to how the SEAK works out

How it fits
It's fits perfectly but the waist seems a bit tight once you have all 3 layers on.

Yukon caribou 8/29/2018

Wore on a caribou hunt up the Yukon river. They fit well over my pants and boots. Had some super nasty weather and was glad i had good rain gear, i stayed dry and warm. I did however have the suspenders loop tear off on the first day i wore them. Was able to use the belt loop with the suspenders. Have three more hunts planned this year, will review again on the durability of them if i have any more issues.

Sturdy Gear 8/29/2018

Live and hunt in the state of Alaska. Purchased the SEAK line of gear and used on a dall sheep hunt. Held up great to serious bushwacking. Have used since on southeast Alaska Sitka blacktail deer hunts where I live. It's a rain-forest and has some seriously thick country. Gear has held up great so far and is easy to take on/off with the side zippers. Definitely not the lightest gear out there but its strong and can take a beating.

How it fits
I ordered my normal gear size with the intention of layering. The fit was great for that purpose. If I got the gear to wear in a single layer it would be a bit large. I believe this was the goal in there design.

Alaska Tundra approved 8/7/2018

Recently took these to the North Slope of Alaska on a four day caribou archery hunt. The fit is perfect and allows for great mobility. I ended up low crawling through tundra for over 300 yards and didn't once feel confined by the cut. The zipper sides were perfect after a 5 mile hike to transition to my Uncompahgre puffy pants for glassing. Worth every penny.

Just received these on pre order. Construction of the piece is what you would expect, flawless. Looking forward to the fall turkey and deer season with these in my pack.

How it fits
I found the fit to be on the tighter side. I was hoping they would fit over my obsidians but was far too tight. I usually wear a medium in most first lite pants, having read the sizing recommendation (sized to fit over your gear) I purchased the same in medium. Returned for a large. All good now with the free return policy.

Dry, Comfy, and quiet for a rain pant!!! 7/9/2018

Haven't been able to use them in PWS in Alaska chasing blacktail deer yet, but that's what I bought them for this fall. I put them on with a set of gaiters and walked through creeks and wet brush in early spring conditions in south central Alaska and stayed bone dry, so I'm sure they will perform just as well in the fall chasing blacktails in some of the wettest conditions out there.
