Building on the success of our popular men's jacket, the women's Brooks Down Sweater delivers ultralight, packable, backcountry insulation to the female hunter who demands the very best in performance outerwear. Built with 100 grams of DWR-treated, 800-fill power, 37.5-DownTek, this piece provides advanced, active insulation that fights off moisture to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable.

When you are miles deep into the backcountry, counting ounces is vital but never at the expense of staying warm and protected from the elements. With that balance in mind, the Brooks was designed using 50% more down than its closest competitor to be the lightest weight possible while ensuring best-in-class warmth. The Brooks series features a drop-tail hem for critical coverage when glassing, and an ultralight Turret hood design that can be operated with one hand to lock in heat while maintaining full field-of-view. Whether you are packing into the high Tundra for caribou in August or climbing southwestern Sky Islands for Coues deer in January, the women's Brooks Down Sweater is the trusted choice to guarantee your warmth while keeping your gear lightweight.

Favorite piece of First Lite!

Favorite piece of gear at the moment. Used the brooks down sweater most of late season as a insulation layer under the catalyst jacket. The two paired perfectly together and it's a great looking and comfortable sweater for days on the town. Highly recommend!

COMFY COZY AND WARM PUFFER

This puffer is light and thin, but still extremely warm. It fits big so there is space to layer underneath. Easy to layer on or take off and pack small and light! Absolutely love it!

Best Coat I’ve Owned

I absolutely LOVE my Brooks Down Sweater. I unpacked it and although I loved the look, it seemed very lite and for mild weather. I WAS WRONG! I wear this jacket all the time. It’s done a wonderful job at keeping me warm in our colder fall temps (30’s). I’m curious to see how it will do when it drops lower.

So warm

I wore this in high wind and negative temperatures. I had one layer under and was perfectly warm hiking around. This jacket is so light, comfortable, warm and breathable. I wish there were pit zips, but this is my favorite jacket.

My new favorite puffy

This jacket is fantastic. It weights nothing, but is really very warm. It is the perfect layering piece for my Catalyst jacket. It is quite different than the Aurora puffy in the fact that it doesn't feature some of the same details, like the draw cord at the bottom, or the brushed fleece hood that I like a lot about the Aurora. But the Brooks's pockets are really deep and durable when having a pack or a bino harness on. It feels really sturdy despite being so light. It packs down very well too. I did originally order the small, then exchanged it for the medium.. and then decided I like the small better. So, I would say to order your true size. Not having the draw cord at the bottom makes it a little roomier on the hips than I expected.

Great layering piece depending on where and what you are hunting.

I bought this jacket last year (2020) for what I hoped would be a November mule deer hunt in the Eastern part of MT. Since COVID ruined those plans, I tried using this as a middle layer to stay toasty warm in the deer stand in the northeast. It was warm and allowed me to extend the comfort range of my Catalyst jacket (still crossing my fingers that us tree stand hunting gals will get our own Solitude system in '22) before having to switch to my Sanctuary jacket, but the nylon fabric is a bit too noisy for bowhunting. It's going to make swooshing noises at the wrong time when you draw back. So this would be more appropriate for rifle hunts or western hunts. Wearing it under my Catalyst jacket did help some of the noise factor, but did not eliminate it. Overall, I really like the jacket and it gets the most use as a light, but warm ski jacket in the winter or 'something warm to wear to the freezing cold truck before I get it started and warmed up at 4am'. It's definitely very packable, but I'd like to see a future version that has as much down fill as the men's version, or for women to get an ultra warm down jacket like the Chamberlain.

Great backpacking layer

This jacket weighs absolutely nothing but is a great insulating layer that also provides some wind protection. Love the inner pockets and full hood. I ordered a small and is perfect to be able to layer up underneath. Super impressed. I like the fit much better than the aurora puffy that seems a bit short in the torso. This jacket will be in my pack for all hunting seasons and will be a great casual winter jacket as well. I hope they make the vest for women soon!
