Sawtooth Hybrid Jacket

300g Merino-X with DWR Nylon

$210.00 USD $168.00 USD

Color/Pattern

The Sawtooth Hybrid Jacket sets a new standard in versatility for western and treestand hunters alike. 20.5 micron, 300g Merino-X wool provides the extreme odor resistance and breathable warmth you've come to expect from First Lite Merino, while DWR coated nylon panels provide critical durability and water resistance where you need it most--the chest and shoulders. Body-mapped to preserve core body temperature, we've added 60g 37.5 synthetic insulation behind the durable nylon panels in the chest for added insulation and wind resistance. The merino back allows for greater airflow in the mid and lower back where packs and tree trunks typically cause heat and moisture to build. Worn as a light outer layer for brisk early-season days or worn in conjunction with other outwear for added warmth on winter days, the Sawtooth Hybrid defines versatility in a cornerstone of the First Lite layering system.

Sawtooth: Sizing Note: For the Men's Sawtooth Jacket, we recommend going up one size for a more comfortable fit. For additional questions please contact Customer Service through chat or by phone (208-806-0066).

Won me over

This piece of gear I was a skeptic of. I left it at home brand new with the tags on it and opted to use other layers instead.
Now this is my absolute go to for those cold days that you are hiking in with a pack on.
Fairs well as a mid layer after the hike when its time to slow down or sit and hunt.
Great solution for cold morning hikes with a pack on. Regulates body temp well
and allows me to push pretty hard without stripping layers. I wear it in my normal jacket size.

Review

I bought this to wear for leisure and also for early season deer hunting. I hunted the Ohio Turkey opener this past weekend so I tried it out for that. I really like the product however, I probably won’t purchase again as it’s manufactured in China.

Quality, comfort

I am 6' 1'', weigh 185, with an athletic built. This jacket fits almost perfectly for me. I thought that the material would have been a little bit thicker, but 300g of Merino wouldn't necessarily be thicker. I don't think this is something that you want to wear by itself on cooler or colder days, but would go underneath something perfectly. For example, I have the Solitude Jacket and Bibs. This will go great underneath that as an added base layer. It will also be good for warmer afternoon turkey hunts. The quality is great, like all the other First Lite products.

Testing the waters

I ordered this jacket to be a jacket not necessarily for hunting. I will use it squirrel / dove hunting maybe some early season deer. I really just wanted to try first lite before I spend big bucks on an entire late season set up. It fits great snug (not tight) in the sleeves as you would want when shooting archery. Warm enough for an ohio spring / fall jacket . As long as it holds up I will be purchasing more first lite gear for late season deer.

Love it

Purchased my Sawtooth Jacket this winter and mostly been using it for hiking (hunting season was mostly over). combined with the Sawtooth vest I received as a give gift they have served me well for hiking at temperatures down to 0 to 10 Degree F. combine both of these with a First Lite merino base layer (shirt and long johns) and I very comfortable down to zero degrees if there isn't much wind. Throw on the First Lite rain gear as an outer layer and now the wind isn't a problem.

Sawtooth for CO bow hunting

I wore the Sawtooth on every day I bow hunted this fall. It was typically worn over a Wick hoody if the day was going to be a reasonable temp or over a Kiln hoody on cooler days. The jacket's design to be worn with a backpack worked perfectly, my back never got sweaty until the day was really heating up and I had to ditch the jacket. If you aren't planning on wearing a backpack this jacket may leave your back cool on colder days. Ive worn in a brief drizzle and it shed the water well but haven't had to deal with heavy rain yet, if so I'd probably be putting on a rainshell. Its super comfortable and has great stretch. It breaths well and seems like the ideal outer layer for cooler mornings/days. I wear a medium in other pieces but sized up to the large in case I wanted some extra layers underneath, it works perfectly.

Perfect layer

This jacket was perfect straight out of the gates. First hunt I used them in Ohio as a second layer of 3. Then I went on a hunt down in Louisiana and it was a perfect outer layer for duck hunting and deer stand sitting! Highly recommended

Very versatile

I bought this for elk hunting in the mountains last fall but I now wear it almost every day here in the Midwest. It is at its best when I'm working fairly hard in cool to cold weather, for activities like cutting wood and winter running. It is perfect for these activities between about 15 and 45 degrees. The close fitting hood and very long sleeves mean I do not usually need a hat or gloves. For stationary activities like stand hunting, it is a good mid-layer. It doesn't have enough insulation or wind-proofing to keep you warm by itself if you're not active, but that's not the point of this jacket. If I was to start over with my hunting wardrobe, for tops I would only get a couple short sleeve synthetic t-shirts, this jacket, and a heavily insulated outer coat. That is all I can conceive of needing in the Midwest and the Rockies. Well, maybe a rain jacket, too.

Fit: my perfect size is usually Large-Tall. Based on FL's recommendation, I went with XL and it is a good fit for me. The body and sleeve length are about right. It is a bit baggy through the torso but not overly so. I'm 6'3", 220 lbs, average build.

Awesome Jacket

Fit is fantastic, super comfortable, love the good, great lightweight jacket for bow season, early spring hunts and even mild winter hunts. I have a broad chest and big shoulders and it still fits like a glove. Highly recommend

Outstanding hoodie

I live and hunt in Colorado and the Sawtooth is my go to in the woods and for everyday. I love this hoodie! Great for early mornings during archery as well as warmer winter days rifle hunting. It cuts wind very well, doesn't stretch after several days in a row and fits like a glove. Dont hesitate to give it a try! I am a flightly smaller frame at 6ft 170 but I have rather long arms and the large is perfect for me. It also gives me a little room to layer. The pockets are thoughtfully placed to access when wearing a pack.
