Started the day in 49 degrees and light rain, continued to 70 degrees and sunny in the afternoon. This hoody and the Obsidian pants kept me warm and dry in the morning, and comfortable in the afternoon! Honestly, i was skeptical because of the pricetag, but these really are worth every dime!
Extremely happy with this product. Long sleeves usually are short on me, but this fits perfect all around. Recently had unseasonably cold temps in the state and this has held up well as a layering piece and then as a top layer when pheasant hunting. Really excited for riffle and late season whitetail hunting with this piece.
I am a West Virginia archery and gun hunter. This is the most disappointing purchase from First Lite for me. The fit is a bit on small side for second layering, sleeves are long. Needs more room in torso for us older, portly guys. The real problem is it heats up like a sauna with even minimal movement . On exertion, its like a furnace...I had to come out of it. What this unbreathable material is: I have no idea. I read the reviews before purchasing but I really can't take this piece in any system I put together. Sorry guys, your experience may be different but I'm sorely disappointed.
Really great hoodie!! I ended up using this in combination with the solitude bib when temps get between 55-70F. When below 50" it becomes the base layer for the Solitude Set. I actually found the Solitude hood to be too bulky, so i took it off and used the klamath hood instead..Much better. The klamath seems to keep me dry no matter how much I sweat! Like you will see in other reviews I found the hoodie to run larger and the sleeves to be really long. If first lite keeps the sleeves this long they should really build in a piece for the thumb to slip through.
I wear this top from September through mid October. Layering it right you can use this top as an outer layer well into October. Love the pattern because it is versatile, goes well with being in pine trees or wide open oak trees. The hood is nice for when the wind picks up. I also normally wash my clothes 3 or 4 times a season, but so far have noticed that the Klamath hasn't held any smells so far this year. That to me is very important hunting public land whitetails in Wisconsin. Will continue to keep this in my kit for years to come!
the Klamath is always with me or on me no matter what season it is. The thumb holes are key for when layering up and not having you sleeves roll up. Very versatile piece and is a great second layer on top of wool.
This hoodie is excellent. It’s lightweight, super warm, holds up well in the wind, and has great options for camo and solid patterns. The fit is perfect, and I love how high you can zip it up. Even unzipped, If you put the hood on, you still get some nice face protection for those cold windy mornings. I can’t overstate how well this thing does blocking wind, even though it’s not a strict windbreaker.
The only thing I would change with this hoodie is adding pockets to the front for days where it’s not cold enough to wear another layer or a hand muff. Not enough to downgrade a full star, but maybe a 4.7 overall because I’m picky and high maintenance.
Went to upsate NY early season, this was a great addition to all my other baselayers. I like the fit and feel and was great around camp as well. Very warm for those cool evenings and morning sits. While on this trip the temps ranged from 38-75 degrees.
I was looking for some new gear for up coming season and stumbled upon first lite.. I really like everything about this hoodie especially the camo pattern.. so when it arrived I was not disappointed it fits great, super comfortable. I can’t wait to wear it in the upcoming hunting season in western PA.. looking forward to buying more of their gear!
Right out of the box it's obvious this isn't your average fleece. Great fit and feel. As mentioned, the sleeves are a touch longer than expected but glad they are. With articulation it will ensure no unwanted draft entering at the cuff. Really looking forward to trying this in the saddle this season. One of my first few pieces from First Lite and I'm very impressed!
