First of all I'd like to say this is an awesome piece of gear. Windproof and warm as a mid layer in -10 C and blowing wind. I'm a huge fan of grid fleece products and this fits the bill better than any other mid layer piece I've used from other companies. I'm a medium in most things and the medium fits me well. My only problem with this is that the sleeves are extremely long. I will need to have them hemmed as they stick out from the end of my hand about 3-4 inches when stretched out. This causes a lot of bunching in the wrist area when under the Uncompaghre and it is uncomfortable. If the sleeves weren't as long as they are this is a 5 star piece all day long.
I bought one of these a year ago and I love it. Functionality is awesome, however, there seems to be some problems with quality assurance on the arm length. The new one I just received would work well for an orangutan. I laid it next to my old one and the sleeves are nearly 2 inches longer. It causes serious bunching around the wrist which is problematic with the bow if I'm not paying attention and forget to jack up my sleeve before I shoot. I wanted to rate it a 4 as I still really like it, but the fact it can cause an issue on a hunt I had to go with the 3. Hopefully it was only a bad batch and the problem is corrected.
Stretchy so it moves with you when you draw your bow. Soft and quiet. Pretty thin but very warm which let's you layer less and not be as bulky. One downside is the hood zippers. If your hood is on but not zipped up, the flaps are right where you anchor at full draw. Probably will take time remembering to tuck them out of the way. Great piece though! If you are starting out and already have some FL merino base layers this is definitely the second piece to get.
I was lucky enough to catch the first lite guys out at the Harrisburg pa great American Outdoor show. I was looking for a midlayer but was torn between the furnace crew and the Klamath hoody... I choose the hoodie this go round and I’m very happy with the purchase. It’s really just an everyday peace of gear and will be a perfect added layer under the catalyst jacket.
definitely a nice fit, a little tight around my mid section, nothing too serious or uncomfortable. I'm in the process of losing weight so I didn't want to get my normal size (XL). 10-15 more lbs off and it will fit perfectly. I like the way it feels. It has some stretch to it, feels like it will last as long as you don't go stomping through a thorn infested hedgerow. You can definitely feel the warmth when you put it on. This can easily be worn as an outer layer in the fall or as a warm mid/base layer in the winter. I like it a lot!
