This base layer is incredible! Wear it as base or second layer. Love it. Just can’t wear it on the way to the stand or I will overheat. It is so warm and comfortable! Absolutely the best heavyweight base I’ve ever worn!
I bought these for a hunting trip starting this weekend with a lot of horseback riding. I thought these would be great in the saddle. It turns out they are also great for long motorcycle rides. I wore them last weekend and they proved invaluable on the cold ride home. They are very comfortable and helped keep me warm on the ride home. Great boxers.
Absolutely love these merino boxers. They keep me comfortable all season long, and I don't have to worry about pinch, sweat or stink. I will say they run a bit on the large side, as I am 5'10 195lbs and the medium fits me perfectly. These things will be my GO TO for hunting, fishing or any time I need comfortable base layers in chilly/cold conditions. Leave your cotton boxers at home and get yourself a pair (or two) of these!
This review is to help out with fitting. I generally wear small underwear and ordered a small. My waist is a 30 or 31 depending on brand in jeans. I’m glad I did not order up in the medium. The small fits good but a medium would have definitely been too large.
I will be ordering another pair of these and the lighter weight ones for spring and fall in Missouri. I wore these on a weekend whitetail hunt and then again in the Smoky Mountains hiking in and out for a total of 10 miles. They were great formal weather under 50, but started to get a bit warm when the temps hit above that point. That being said they were still comfortable and I didnt get swamp ass from them either.
Purchased these with several other pieces of First Lite gear a few weeks ago. I've already had them out on several cold weather hunts here in Wisconsin and am pleasantly surprised with how nice they work. They are my first pair of wool boxer briefs, and I am very happy with how they have performed so far. As with some of the other pieces, I feel like they run just a little bigger than a normal medium (will probably order these in a small if I order another pair), but that could be me being a pretty thin guy. The quality of them is second to none, and I can honestly recommend them if you haven't ever had a piece like this in your gear list.
Purchased these, along with the Zero Cold Weather OTC socks, for a recent Colorado elk hunt. While it was a warm season these basically doubled as a second insulating layer, and some days I did not even start the morning out with long johns. I will definitely be ordering some more, and wearing them on colder winter days around town as well. One point to note is they seem to run large compared to most other brands.
I took 2 pair with me for an 8 day hunt. These exceeded my expectations! They were warm when they needed to be and kept me cool when the temps got up. Never once did I have any problems with chaffing. Temps were between 25-70 degrees. Also helped with keeping odor to an absolute minimum.
I bought a couple pairs for a western elk hunt. I figured I spend a little extra money on boxers since I'd be wearing them 3-4 days at a time. The temperatures ranged from the High 20's all the way up to a couple days that reached the high 70's and I was comfortable at all temperatures with minimal odor. Really happy with this product and happy I spent the extra money on a quality pair of boxers.
