Kanab 2.0 Merino Pant
Kanab 2.0 Merino Pant Details
We took the best selling Kanab pant--often the cornerstone of the First Lite system--and made it even better. The Kanab 2.0 is designed to be the hunting pant for the active hunter and is made of 90% rip-stop Merino wool with strategically placed panels of Duraflex stretch nylon to greatly increase durability. It can be worn with our Allegheny full length bottoms when it is 30 degrees and windy or with our Red Desert boxer shorts when it is 85 and sunny. When compared to microfiber, wool has superior breathability and the ability to retain 80% of its warmth when soaking wet and most importantly does not smell even after days in the field.
An important note about sizing: If you own a pair of Kanab 1's, please refer to our size chart in order to verify sizing, I.e. many customers that wore a medium in the 1st generation pants now wear a large. Please review the size chart to be sure.

The bad: Stitching in the fly and around the gusset started to fall apart on day one of my trip this past Fall 2016. By day 3 of my return leg, the crotch was completely blown out and provided a nice breeze but zero protection. Sizing may be off causing the failure. Waist too large but calf diameter a little too small for mountain fit guys. Would have expected a $150 pant to hold up better. The good: comfortable while they lasted, quiet, and functional pocket design.
These are great pants. Cool when you want them to be cool and keep you warm enough on the cool September mornings. I've had no issues with durability either. Also, like all of FL wool gear the odor management is fantastic. I've worn these pants multiple days without picking up any noticeable odor - unlike synthetic clothing. However, my two issues with these pants are first the sizing and fit.On sizing, I sure would like to see a few changes. I'm a pretty standard 36x34 in carharts and wranglers. One change is FL's sizing so that Large is 36-38 rather than including 34 in the large range and making XL 37-40. It makes the Larges a little small. Guys that wear 34"e; waists aren't large and guys that wear 40"e; waist generally wouldn't mind a bit more more offered in and XXL. Also, these pants could benefit from a bit longer crotch. These are a bit short, especially for an XL pant and I find them riding up a bit. Also, the pant leg could be a bit longer. Again, I find the bottoms routinely working their way to top of my boot, especially if I sit down. Finally, dump the metal button on the knee. On more than one occasion, I've jammed the button into my knee. A flat plastic button, like on military pants would work much better.
Again the fit is poor. These are very baggy, which I realized this is to fit over other clothes but I will take my impertechs to Alaska, these will be staying home.
These pants are great and are absolutely loaded with cool features, but I wish they were more durable. They definitely aren't cheap, but I believe with the release of the new obsidian pants they are trying to fix the durability issue. I love the zipper rear pocket. It gives me a peace knowing that my wallet isn't going to come flying out if I slip and fall down a ridge (happens often). I also like the button on the knee that allows you to roll the pants up for some extra airflow.
Awesome product. I was worried the pants might cut or rip easily since some of the lands I hunt have thick patches of blackberry bushes. After using the pants multiple times wrestling through blackberry bushes, I was surprised to see that the Kanab 2.0 pants are not only flexible, but very durable as well! After multiple trips through creekwater there was no stinch to the pants either. Love these pants and would highly recommend them to anyone. I am 6'2"e;, 215lbs and ordered the Large Tall. The length is absolutely perfect. The waist is a little loose but the suspenders are comfortable and hold the pants up right where they need to be!
