Great Jacket 10/27/2018

I have used the jacket now on a Wyoming deer and elk hunt and jacket performed flawlessly. I planned on using it as a stand-alone jacket when glassing and under a shell while traveling on a side by side. Weather was in the teens and twenties and even while traveling on dirt roads going 60 mph this jacket kept me toasty. I was truly amazed at how well the jacket blocked the wind and cold. After using a shell over it for a day I realized I was just as warm without a shell. I would use it while glassing and I never got cold. With how bulky it is I would only consider this jacket on a late season hunt when I needed the warmest garment available or on a hunt where space and weight weren’t at a premium. Overall I’m very satisfied with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a puffy on steroids that will keep you warm no matter how cold it is.

Pros:
-It really is as warm as everyone says. Temperatures in teens and never got cold. Not even chilled.
- The hood is amazing and keeps your neck and face warm even if you don’t have the hood on.
- Amazing loft and and distribution of insulation

Cons:
- Fabric is pretty noisy but not really a concern since this is a stationary jacket
- It isn’t as packable as I anticipated and is pretty heavy. Once again, this jacket is meant to keep you warm in the coldest conditions not to be the ultimate light weight package.

How it fits
I wear XXL in Kuiu and XL in Sitka. I wear XL in this jacket. I would say not as snug as kuiu but not as loose as most Sitka garments.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for 10/11/2018

This thing is amazing. Definitely never leaving my pack. I have been looking for something to help on long cold glassing sessions and this jacket is a game changer. The more time behind glass the more animals on the ground, and I can honestly say this has improved my hunting. I wish I could wear it all the time just for how comfortable it is.

I now carry it at all times in my pack as a sort of “safety blanket”. Throw it on with some rain gear and you’re good to stay the night away from
Camp if need be.

How it fits
Large fits good. I generally layer a base, and Chaka underneath.

BUY IT NOW!!!! 9/18/2018

Talk about a self-contained heater! This jacket is hands down the warmest puffy I’ve had the chance to wear. It’s puffy in style and seemed to hold its loft well.

I recently used it in conditions less than 32* and was toasty. I actually used it as part of my sleep system on a backpacking/bear hunting trip to shave excess weight and was able to use my 35* bag vs. 10* bag.

If you want warmth, this jacket is your ticket.

Awesome Lightweight Down Jacket 8/30/2018

The first thing I want to clear up is that I selected "Spot & Stalk" for the question "What do you use it for?" There wasn't really a better option. I don't use it at work and don't intend to. It's August so I really don't plan on using it any time soon.

That said, we did get a recent cold front and the lows were in the mid thirties. I'd rented a forest service cabin during a hunt and had the opportunity to use this one night around the camp fire. I was thoroughly impressed with how warm I stayed, even when I ventured off into the woods to answer the call of nature.

I know it isn't meant to be used as an outer layer when hunting so take this with a grain of salt. The fabric used is incredibly lightweight so I can't imagine this standing up to much abuse. However, if you were hunting and wanted to wear it, a lightweight and more durable shell would likely provide the perfect combination of warmth to weight.

Pretty dang cozy! 8/30/2018

Since it’s been in the mid 80’s lately, I have yet to field test this jacket. Out of the box, it’s seems to be great. Lightweight, soft, quiet and seemingly quite warm, this sucker will undoubtedly be with me all winter.

How it fits
A review before this one said it was on the big side. I thought it was about par for First Lite’s sizing. Perfect for me, a touch long in the sleeves (for my monkey arms) that tapers down to the wrist to keep the warm air in and the cold air out. Comfortable snug hood. Athletic fit (for a down jacket).

Awesome ! 8/30/2018

Just got this recently and love it. It is crazy warm and packs up small. Well thought out piece and the hood and collar lock in all the heat incredibly well. Can’t wait to use it for November white tails in Alberta !

How it fits
I wear a large in the Chama and Uncompadre, but needed an XL in this piece and the furnace top.

Perfect insulating jacket! 8/30/2018

This is a perfect insulating jacket. Light weight and yet very substantial. Nice features (as always with First Lite!) Solid zippers, roomy pockets, well designed hood, and a great tailored fit. I have the Uncompahgre as well which is a great piece, and although it is more pack-able it's is not nearly as insulated as the Chamberlain. It's been way to warm to give this one a try but fall is in the air and I know it will be a go to piece for those long glassing sessions as well as stand sits!

How it fits
I'm 6'2" and 225 with a long torso and the XL fits me perfectly.

a furnace 8/29/2018

This jacket is a furnace! The weight to insulation ratio is spot on, and still packs down pretty good for how much fill it has. At first I wished it had pit zips, but the jacket is very warm not meant for wearing while active so I probably would never use them anyway. Will always be in my pack from Oct. on.

Problem solver 8/29/2018

This jacket is sweet! Looks like it will layer perfect for cold sits and when the weather turns nasty you can pull this thing out and it turns into an oven.

How it fits
Fits me perfect. Just a slight bit of room to layer underneath but will be comfortable by itself.

upper body oven 7/5/2018

I’ve been waiting for this jacket from FL for a long time and pre ordered it the first week. I’m a backpacker and strong believer in layering which is what has me hooked on FL gear. BUT I always throw a down jacket in my pack for ultra warmth. After wearing the uncompahgre jacket for 2 seasons, I got hooked on the deep pockets, hood design and general cut. I always thought, if FL would take their features and attach them to my Eddie Bauer down coat, it would be the ultimate lightweight oven jacket; and they finally did!!!

This is the ultimate cold weather/windy or glassing coat! The pockets are cut deep so there is zero chance of wind getting in or warmth getting out. The hood is my favorite part as the neck is where most heat is lost while I’m glassing for hours. You can literally cinch this hood down so it’s snug (and comfortable) on your face with no chance of heat loss!! Even when the hood is not on, if you zip the zipper all the way closed and bunch the hood up, your neck is completely sealed off. I have zero complaints and would change nothing, it will be in my pack all of Oct/Nov for sure.
If your new to FL, the sizing is tricky and I screwed myself on this coat and ordered a large. I wear a large in FL shirts and fleece, but I wear a Medium in all outer wear, including this jacket. A medium still allows room for my base and mid layer, but I like things snug as I hate baggy clothes. A Medium FL jacket fits exactly like a regular Large.
Everyone makes a puffy jacket, what makes this coat stand out is the detail into the things a outdoorsman needs, FL clearly worked all the kinks out before releasing this upper body oven.

How it fits
It’s a layering jacket, so they run a size bigger than normal to allow multiple layers beneath it. I wear a large in every product made and I wear a medium in this jacket.
