Awesome gaiter, but some durability issues 10/24/2018

Bought this gaiter for the 2018 Colorado first rifle season and wore them all 5 days. As far as performance goes, they were flawless. Tops of the boots and bottoms of the pants were kept pristine. I wear a size 9.5 Zamberlan hunting boot, and while I could get them on, they were TIGHT. Thank god they stretch, and the tightness was probably why they kept things out so well. The fact that they were so tight did not make them uncomfortable, it was just a little difficult to get them on. If I bought again, I'd get the larger size. The only problem I have is my pair seemed to suffer some durability issues. After 5 days I had 2 holes in them, frayed straps, and some stitching was coming undone. Maybe some of that was due to the fact they were so tight around my boots, but I wouldnt expect that kind of wear after 5 days, and I wouldn't say we did any really hard wear hiking. Excellent gaiter, but only 4 stars for the durability issues. If they would have stood up better I'd give 5, and maybe the larger size would cure that issue.

How it fits
I feel a 9.5 is right on the border between a S/M and a L/XL. I got the S/M and they fit thanks to their stretchiness, but I think I would have been better suited with the larger size

Lets nothing in 10/2/2018

I just got done running these gaiters to mainly keep out dirt and scree while using trail running shoes hunting. They worked great. I went from dead fall, creek crossings, to ski stepping down talus and loose dirt and they did not disapoint. Was really impressed through dead fall no snagging or tears from catching on branches. Not the normal use for gaiters but they worked.

Exactly what I had in mind! 9/28/2018

I have finally encountered a product that matches what I had in mind for design and function. Problem: Early season upland hunting in southern Idaho is quite warm. I like to wear lightweight ripstop/cotton pants and I want to maintain air circulation in my pant legs to try and stay cool. Wearing conventional length gaiters makes my feet and lower leg too hot. My Irish Setter boot tops are not tall enough to keep out the worst of the worst of debris - cheat grass. The solution as I imagined it: A gaiter that I can wear inside the pant leg that will "extend" the length of the boot top to keep out cheat grass, made of lightweight yet durable material to withstand frequent use (I'm retired and am hunting 3-4 days a week), made of breathable material to prevent sweaty lower legs and feet, has a hardy, durable heel strap that will take the punishment of frequent use, and finally, a lace hook that will stay hooked and hold the lower part of the gaiter in place. (Kudos for thinking of having the hook facing upward - great idea!) In addition, I have skinny ankles so I needed something that would stay snug and not droop.
I spent a great deal of time researching products and saw these gaiters mentioned alongside the KIUI Scree gaiter. The demo video influenced me to try these first. I'm glad I did. I've been using them and they have performed exactly as I wanted. I will be ordering a second pair for my wife.

How it fits
I think that if you have a muscular/thick low calf in S/M size, it might be too tight. If you have a skinny ankle and high calf muscle then this will work for you. Keep in mind that the material is stretchy and you want the top to be snug because it doesn't have a draw string like conventional gaiters. I cannot speak intelligently to large sizes and their fit.

Small/Tight 9/27/2018

I loved everything about the gaiters but in the end they were just too tight for my legs. I tried them with my Corrugate and Catalyst pants along with my Crispi Summit boots (size 13). I don't consider my calves to be huge but they aren't skinny either. I own the Brambler gaiters also which work and fit great but would love to have a low/mid length pair for when the elements are not so bad. Hopefully in the future they will make a pair that are a little more adjustable.

Outstanding 9/4/2018

I recently used the Gaiters during a hunt to Adak AK. Although there was no snow on the ground they performed wonderfully keeping wetness and debri out of my boots and assisted in keeping my feet dry. I am looking forward to providing updates after the first hunt in this winter.

Great fit. Durable. 8/30/2018

Bought these a few weeks ago and have been putting them to the test in Louisiana of all places. So far so good. Keeps the ticks and other critters out while I’m scouting in the woods. Holds up to the brambles and the mud. Going to test them in a little more different terrain in Canada in a couple of weeks.

Great 3 season gaiter 8/30/2018

I purchased this gaiter last fall and it has performed great ever since. The materials are durable and well constructed. If you are in the market for a super light three season gaiter, this product is for you. It does a great job at keeping debris and moisture out of your boots, which allows you to have more up-time in the field. Compared to the other brands I tried on at various outdoor stores, this product provides great value for the price. Other gaiters in this price range are either too bulky or have a cheap look and feel to them. My only negative comment is that they are a little snug around the calves, especially if you have on thicker socks or pants. I wish there was a feature that would allow you to adjust the fit slightly.

How it fits
I found the gaiter to be a little tight around my calves. While the material is stretchy, I wish there was a way to adjust the fit. Other than that, this is a great product.

Perfect for fast-paced, lightweight movement 8/29/2018

Use this mostly during warm weather as a way to keep the boulders and foxtails out of my socks and low-cut hikers. They're very lightweight and not buiky at all. The stretchy material feels as if it'd be more prone to tears but they've held up great over the last 12 months.

Perfection 8/29/2018

Over the last decade I have used three different gators from three different companies. Two of which are mountaineering companies so they have been in the business of making and using gators for a long time. With exception to the one that is goretex I will say that this has a far better fit and feel. It lets nothing in and stays cooler so you don’t sweat like you would with a nylon or goretex type material. You do not clip them as your walking and the straps are tough also. These instantly became my favorite gators after one hike. They dry fast when dew gets them a little wet and you won’t overheat in them. You will barley notice you have them on minus the fact that they are quite and you don’t have binding or clipping and over heating. Nothing will get inside boots or shoes. I found them to be fairly tight for the larger size but for me it is pretty close to perfect. I highly recommend this gator for any off pavement adventure.

Changed a non-gaiter man to a gaiter man 8/29/2018

I have never worn gaiters. I don't like the way they fit and I don't like the way they make my legs feel claustrophobic. After listening to a recent popular hunting podcast regarding gaiters, I decided a few months ago to give them a try. I went with the Traverse Hunting Gaiters because they seemed a little tamer than the larger brush gaiters. I do a lot of pre-season hiking and scouting and in northeastern Oregon, the summers can be warm. I have worn these gaiters for over 70 miles of rough country, off-trail, dry ground hiking and I could not be more impressed. I am wearing them over a pair of Scarpa trekking boots with a stiff shank, but they don't make my feet or ankles sweat or feel anything in addition to the way the boots do.

I have been on scree slopes and through pretty nasty underbrush and have hiked with these with both shorts and pants on, and I can't say enough good things about them. I have suffered no tears or rips, and it seems as if they are fairly indestructible despite the lightweight stretchy material. They fit snugly and I haven't had a single rock or brush incursion into my boots and have made me spend more time on the trail and less time dumping junk out of my boots.

If you are not sold on gaiters, give these a shot, I'm sure they will change your mind like they changed mine.

Lightweight hiking gaiter 8/29/2018

I bought these to use early season and possibly as a general hiking gaiter. They've proven themselves by protecting the bottoms of my pants and keeping water out of my boots during stream crossing. Seeing people around me and on social media use these, something finally clicked and I thought these are a great way of keeping debris out of my boots. I have some heavier gaiters I use later in the season or during times of bad weather, but didn't realize the value of having a gaiter during warmer months just to keep out rocks/debris/scree. Fantastic, but keep away from the campfire. 7/25/2018

These gaiters were essential from scouting in Central Oregon in the spring to chasing elk in the Eagle Caps in over a foot of snow. They held up for what they were designed for. I burned a hold in one when I put it too close to the campfire to dry out after a day of post holing. Oops.. The L/XL fit my larger lady calfs. Great Product 7/11/2018

I just finished using these for an 85 mile week long hike. I have used them before but was just blown away with how durable and great they worked out. They stayed in place all week and handled a ton of harsh terrain. I let my wife use another top hunting company's gaiters, which were brand new before the hike and they broke on the final day of the hike. She had completely worn through the steal cable that straps under the boots after just a week of use, while the First Lite gaiters were still running strong! I was very very impressed with they way they preformed, buy with confidence!

Great piece of kit. 6/1/2018

Keep your feet dry in the rain, wet grass, and shallow streams.

Keep debris out of your boots in scree fields and avalanche chutes, and protect your expensive Obsidian pants from briars and devil's club.

The best part is that they do all this without making your lower legs sweat excessively (and subsequently wicking into your socks) and are the quietest gaiters I've used to date.

Other reviews mentioned that the tops are extremely tight around your calves. This is true, but they seem to stretch over time. An adjustable buckle or strap may be a worthwhile addition on future versions.

ightweight gaiter 10/3/2017

These are much lighter and easier to pack than a full-size gaiter but that does come with drawbacks. The gaiters are secured with velcro and after heavy use parts of the velcro strips on my pair delaminated from the material. Also after some extended use in the field the velcro is likely to come undone at times so if you don't want snow/other material to get in there you will have to retighten the velcro down. Personally I will sacrifice weight and will be going to a heavier more durable gaiter.

Perfect for when a full size gaiter is a overkill. Can't beat them for weight and how quiet they are.

Great Everday Gaiter 8/15/2017

I was very impressed with the fit and Quality. Just a side note, I inquired early on about the sizing of these and if they would fit/compliment the Schnee's 9 " Granite Boots. Was told they'd be to short by Customer Service. I bought them anyway and they are about 3 " longer than the boot and work great !

Thanks for the awesome products.

great gaiters, run small 8/7/2015

For all the ladies out there, get the large! Once ya get your baselayers, pants and hunting shoes on, the smalls won't close. Other than that, pretty rad!
