This is a great baselayer our a close second layer over a lighter baselayer. The microfiber wool is soft and does not cause any irritation when its next to skin. This layer will come on all hunts with me.
I ordered this base layer and it was still really warm out during the day. I wore this layer with the corrugated guide pants and a fleece hood in mid 40's weather. The wicking and cooling worked fantastic. It kept odors at bay even while sweating. The real test was today. It was 20 out when we went into the woods this morning. I sweated while walking up the mountain. I figured I would get cold. I did not. The fabric was perfect. Kept me warm despite being sweaty and it being cold out. I sat from 0545 to 1100 hours with no issues. The afternoon was opposite. Very warm that got cold fast when the temp dropped. I dressed light on the way in and still sweated badly. However, the shirt dried fast and I actually did not need to layer up for an hour after being in the stand, I never had base layers that worked so well before.
The sizes also were on point. Exact fit. I also loved the thumb hole sleeves. This is a fantastic feature while layering. I have light gloves and it helps tie my gloves into the rest of the system. Fantastic job by first light. I need to get my wife a set of this and then the layer for over top for December weather.
I used the Fuse Henley on my recent ptarmigan hunt in the Colorado Collegiate Peaks region and had it as a long sleeve base. The button collar allowed me to change how much ventilation I was getting as we moved higher up the mountain or I was sweating more -- it layered well with other kit without bunching. My only gripe is that after two days of backpacking the shoulders pilled pretty badly where packstraps rubbed. I'm not super worried about it, but it does affect the long term wear. The fit is loose enough to wear solo without looking like you're some sort of super athlete and clingy enough not to cause issues with layering.
I’ve worn this in the heat of the day and the chill of the morning. In all conditions it’s been great. The real money maker is being able to wear it while being active in some surprise heat and not feeling overheated at all and also if a cool wind comes in as the sun is coming down it’s great for keeping you warm enough to stay in the field. Extremely soft and best of all durable.
I got this shirt for the spring turkey season here in Western Oregon. I absolutely love it! I wore a sweatshirt over it first thing in the morning, but then after it warmed up a little bit, the Henley was all I needed. The shirt held up great and I can't wait to use it for this upcoming elk season.
