this jacket is perfect fit for me and I love it. Its very warm light and quiet. The hood fit my head just right and doesn't block my line of sight left to right and up for birds. What more could you ask for? Best jacket I have ever owed
I was like you, debating weather to spend the money on the sanctuary set of bibs and jacket. I hunt primarily in the Adirondack mountains where rifle season goes well below 0 degrees many days. These bibs and jacket are well worth the price and I only wish I purchased them sooner. They have greatly lengthened my sit time due to remaining comfortable. The only down side is due to your heat retention - if you have any sort of walk or hike to your stand - plan on packing the bibs and jacket in. You’ll overheat in a matter of minutes walking in these bad boys. 10/10 would recommend, and if I ever destroy my set I will be purchasing again hands down. Essential for any stand/blind hunter.
Can't say enough about this jacket, it is the warmest, quietest jacket I have had for late-season stand hunting. I would not want to hike long distances in it, but putting it on the stand is having an electric blanket. Yes, you could get too warm, but I'd rather be too warm and shed layers than get too cold and have to leave. I had a Sitka Fanatic set up and loved that too, but it caught a lot of burrs, and the Sanctuary is much better cut for hunting, either archery or rifle. I just like it more, so I'm selling my Sitka on ebay.
Last season I found myself out in December in the brutal cold of New York after a snow storm and realized how badly I needed new gear. After a long search I finally landed on this jacket, unfortunately it was out of stock in my size so had to wait all the way to June to finally get my hands on it but it was absolutely worth the wait. Took it out of the box and it feels so lightweight and isn't bulky at all. I put it on along with the bibs and was immediately sweating inside my apartment. Obviously getting them in June I'll have to wait to give you a review of how they stand up to the elements but so far they have far exceeded my expectations. Very lightweight, real quiet fabric, and I can only imagine my layering when wearing this bad boy will be minimal even late in the New York season
I haven't tried this in the field yet as it is summer and it was purchased for October moose and November deer in Ontario, but I am extremely pleased with this jacket and the matching pants. Very lightweight and feels extremely warm. Can't wait for fall!
I have been using different set ups for cold weather my whole life and when it gets cold you are either 6 layers deep or wearing to heavy of a base layer for walking etc. I finally decided that as I get older why am I not hunting because I get cold and typically not as much pressure in the later season so you can enjoy it if you are dressed properly. I took the plunge and decided if I didn't like it I could return it. We had some cold days and the Sanctuary Jacket and bibs will keep you on stand for as long as you want. Don't walk in with jacket on but you do not need hardly anything under this layer. I was looking forward to cold weather to use this outfit. Camo is awesome, quiet, and just all around one of the best decisions I have made when it comes to hunting clothing. You will not be disappointed . I am glad I found First Lite they have helped me dress for all occasions.
I've never been more comfortable wearing the Jacket and Bib set. Wore both during NY and PA rifle season and late archery. Remained absolutely comfortable during both seasons. Even wore the combo on Lake Ontario pulling in Walleye. Again, stayed comfortable. On every occasion I packed the Jacket in and out while I layered a pair of shorts and long underwear below the bibs.
I absolutely love this jacket but I have two major flaws with it . The stitching in places is not very robust in places. Any tugging done by branches or getting it caught on the stand can easily damage it. Also I love the idea behind them making the jacket bigger for layering but with modern layer systems I don’t need that much space inside the jacket. I love the cuffs their a perfect fit but they contradict the purpose of the bigger body portion.
I have only worn this piece for 10 days, but it paid for its self 10 times during that time frame. Howling Kansas wind combined with single digit temperatures are no longer a problem. I paired this with the furnace base layer an stayed nice and warm. If you have a long walk to the stand I recommend packing it in and putting it on before you get in the stand or you'll sweat! Everything I have purchased from First Lite has been of exceptional quality an has made me more efficient in the field.
Wow this jacket is super warm!! If your always trying to find a way to stay warmer. This is your jacket. You will never be cold again with minimal layering. This jacket is dead quiet as well. Pockets are great. Drawstring on bottom to tighten it up. Also has a grunt call pocket which I thought was cool. This jacket runs a bit large. I think for layering. I went with a large on this jacket and it fits good. I wear xl in catalyst and corrugated.
