Sawtooth Hybrid Jacket

300g Merino-X with DWR Nylon

$210.00

Color/PatternFirst Lite Cipher

The Sawtooth Hybrid Jacket sets a new standard in versatility for western and treestand hunters alike. 20.5 micron, 300g Merino-X wool provides the extreme odor resistance and breathable warmth you've come to expect from First Lite Merino, while DWR coated nylon panels provide critical durability and water resistance where you need it most--the chest and shoulders. Body-mapped to preserve core body temperature, we've added 60g 37.5 synthetic insulation behind the durable nylon panels in the chest for added insulation and wind resistance. The merino back allows for greater airflow in the mid and lower back where packs and trees trunks typically cause heat and moisture to build. Worn as a light outer layer for brisk early season days or worn in conjunction with other outwear for added warmth on winter days, the Sawtooth Hybrid defines versatility in a cornerstone of the First Lite layering system.

Tight

Very tight and the shoulders, with anything else on other then the wick shirt. I’d recommend sizing up if you have broad shoulders. Everything else I’ve bought has been true to size. I would have sent it back. But the cost for shipping back to the states is bloody expensive and same for shipping to Canada. Can’t wait for FL to find a good alternative for us Canadians.

Great sweater. I like the fact this can be a mid layer or an external piece. Great for cooler days while hunting. Even better for some giving me some style around town!

Surprisingly warm, but not very durable. Tweak the design please.

I’ve used this jacket only a handful of times in early mid GA turkey season when the mornings were cool. It is surprisingly warm to be so minimal. It isn’t extremely comfortable when worn over a long sleeve Aerowool base. The shoulders and sleeves are tight. This constriction is very apparent right when you put it on, but after walking and wearing for a few minutes it loosens up some and you don’t notice it as much. I’m not a very broad shouldered guy, and my arms are fairly lanky, so I can see this being worse on dudes with a more athletic or heavier physique.

Durability so far sucks. Like I said, I only wore it out on a few mornings and the stitching on the sleeve cuff is already coming undone. Not sure why they only ran a single stitch on the cuff seams compared to the much more robust stitching on the base layers. This jacket could also benefit from the flat stitched seams on all the fabric joints, which again, are standard on the base layers. C’mon FL, this is what R&D is for.

I really want to like this jacket, as it seems very versatile. It works awesome as an early springtime/fall outer layer and I plan on using it as a cold weather base or mid layer. I’m not so unsatisfied to try and return it, but it just isn’t what I expected it to be, considering every other FL piece I own is so well designed. Overall many of the design choices and weak stitching makes me wish I picked the soft shell or grid fleece. Hold off on buying this piece, at least until they tweak the design.

Fit Comments: Wish it were an inch or so longer and the arms are pretty tight.
Location: Northern AZ
Primary Use: Deer,elk, javelina hunting
Great Jacket... a tad small though.

Love this jacket... however it does run a little small. Everything I wear in First Lite has been a perfect fit in size Medium and this one runs maybe a half size smaller. If I could do it over again I would have returned it and sprung for the Large, but its still great gear no doubt about it.

Quickly becoming my favorite First Lite piece--and that is a freaking high bar

The Sawtooth Hybrid Jacket is simply fantastic for the mobile hunter. I've used it elk hunting through October snowstorms in Colorado and spring turkey and bear hunting in Idaho. Can't wait to test it out during September archery elk. I am a HUGE Chama fan, but this piece is quickly catching up. The heat mapping really works, I love the full zip, the thumbholes for layering, and the fitted hood sets it apart from anything else I own. It is simply awesome, all the way around, and worth every hard-earned penny.
