Used these for a late season elk hunt at 10,000' and single digit temps. Snowed 18-24" on us the second day. These were great as they allowed me the warmth in the morning and the ability to shed the layer as the day warmed up. I liked not having to worry about them being down in my boots as well. Not sure why this review site is saying I'm from California, but I'm in Arizona. ;-)
The fuse zip offs are amazing. I wore these in the cool mornings under Obsidian pants early in September and all day under the Obsidians later in the Fall and they were great. The ability to quickly zip off when you are heating up is great and will now be a feature on every pair of long johns I buy. I will also be getting a pair of the Furnace zip off boot top for those colder days when I will be more stationary. You don't even realize the zipper is there they are so comfortable.
Im interested. The description states you can zip these off without taking your boots off. My question is, Are they easy to put on without removing boots as well?
So brilliant. The long jons are wonderful, they are the same as all FL base layers, just great. Super warm and comfortable to hike in. The zipper is the best idea in outdoor performance gear I have seen in years. Put them first thing in the morning on or sleep in them then take them off with no hassle.
The zip off boot cut fuse’s are great! I was worried with the zippers messing with the hair on my legs. No issues at all. Great product!
I run hot, and that becomes a problem in the mountain when you wake up cold but exert heavily throughout the day. Thie piece solves that problem wonderfully. I don't notice the zipper and the waist line is super comfortable. Perfect degree of tight vs loose fitting.
Worked well, fit was good. I wish these were around earlier. Very convenient!
Hunting this year in Idaho saw 50 degree swings in temperature from 25f in the morning to 75f+ I was able to take these off in seconds without having to take my boots off. These were worn for 14 days without them getting slimy or sticking to my legs even when sweating. Zippers were comfortable and went unnoticed while hiking.
I put 60 + days in these this season in YT as it was a cold and wet august/sept. The Fabric and Waistband never stretched out at all and I never noticed the zipper even when sleeping on my side. A much better upgrade from my kuiu zip off long johns.
I'm standing here on the side of the mountain typing this on a note in my phone. We stopped as a group to take off our baselayers before a big 1,000 vertical foot hike up the hill. In the time it is taking the other members of my hunt party to sit down, take off their boots, take off pants, take off their longjohns, and put their pants and boots back on - I had already dropped trow, zipped these things off, put them in my pack, ate a granola bar, and had enough time to pull out my phone and type this review. I will never buy another pair of non-zips. Even when hiking, I didn't get too sweaty in these. They keep me nice and toasty in low-40's in the morning and into the high-50's didn't get too hot.
