These pants work perfect for me, lightweight and packable. I pack these in and put them on at the tree or stand. The only con for me was the inseam is too long, but I have short legs to be 6'1''
If you hunt big game, you most likely hunt the high country in the fall, and that means it gets cold. The UNCOMPAHGRE PUFFY PANT is Comfortable light and easy to put on in and off. The zippers on the full length of the paint keep it easy to put on over your boots and takeoff when you’re climbing the mountain. This is now an essential piece of gear when I leave the house to chase elk or high country mule deer.
Last fall I hunted the frank church in subzero temperatures for over the counter DIY mule deer. These pants were a huge part of the reason I was able to stay out on the mountain and hunt longer and ultimately staying longer and glassing harder lead to my success!
VERY happy with the overall feel of this puffy pant and packability! I’m 5’7” with a 32” waist and the Medium fits perfect! It will be perfect in inclement weather where I can toss a Gor-Tex pant shell over them if it’s really nasty and glassing is needed. Would suggest these to everyone!
I've been itching to try some of First Lite's gear and finally pulled the trigger. I purchased the uncompahgre pants to use as an insulation piece for several hunting styles. The obvious one is for during the sitting portion of big game hunting. I haven't used them in this application yet, but after wearing them, I'm confident they'll do just fine.
The other style of hunting I purchased these for is for underneath waders while duck hunting. These are perfect for this application. I was constantly battling sweat while walking to the duck blind with lots of insulation under my waders. The uncompahgre pants work perfect with the full side zips on the side. They give me the option to throw these on after the walk-in to avoid over-heating.
I'm 5'9" and 185lb. the mediums fit good
This is a great piece to add to your gear. Super light, packable and easy to get on. Good for the deer stand down to 20 degrees w/ base layers and other pants, I don't think they'd be warm enough below that temp. Love the articulated knees and extra room in the seat so the waist doesn't pull down exposing your lower back if you're sitting. Looking forward to bringing these on a Western hunt in the future, I'm sure they'll be perfect.
I wanted a insulating pant that was low on bulk and big on warmth. I like to hike in deep in the whitetail woods so most of the other whitetail systems where to bulky for me. I throw them in my pack then when I get to my stand I slip them on over my regular pants.
I wore these pants in near zero degree weather with high winds. I stayed not just tolerably warm but comfortably warm in these pants while I glassed.
Easy to take on and off.
They stay in my pack at all times.
Have the jacket and pants. Stayed warm sitting in 34 degree temps waiting for predators to come to my calls. Perfect for staying warm while glassing or stationary hunting in colder weather. Great light weight addition to my hunting kit.
These are warm, but not durable by any means. The button broke after the first use and I’m not fat.
This pant and jacket combo kept me in the stand longer than anyone else at our camp by at least 2 hours. One day while sitting in the stand it started coming down in a mix of rain and snow, it was 0 degrees Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) and kept me toasty warm and dry with the water just running off, only issue I had was the button broke on the pants, thankfully Duke at customer service was awesome and fast and I should have my replacement before my next hunt. All in all this is a great pant and jacket and you should get it if you're thinking about it.
