Purchased these ahead of a three day desert backpacking trip and very glad I did. When I first got them, one of the buttons detached from the Velcro, and was kinda frustrating. Applied some Gorilla glue to it and got it reattached and haven't noticed any problems since however. Performed really well in the desert and kept all debris/pebbles out of my boots while my buddy was stopping every mile to clear his shoes out (without gaiters). I've got pretty slim ankles and these in the L/XL still had a very trim slim profile around my leg, which I liked. Just watch out if you have massive calves or thick ankles, as these seem to run slim near the top--4 way stretch fabric helps. The bottom strap is starting to show a little wear after a hard three days, so we'll see how long they hold up, but wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair when they do wear out.
Having purchased these long before the season opener, I failed to test them for fit and function. Opening day comes and the top button blows off in the house before I even get them strapped on. Can't give an opinion on their durability because they never made it out the door! The fit seemed very small for a man with larger legs and 10" boots.
I’m an eastern hunter who only bought these because in late August when I was scouting must have hit a tick nest. My wife had to pluck more than 50 of the little suckers off my ankles and legs. So I bought these and treated them with permethrin and have been tick free since. My only issue is one of the buttons that connects the hook broke off after about a month of use.
I’ve started using these along with my trail running shoes for my late season S&S hunt herein CO. There are perfect for keeping everything out of my shoes like rain and snow. I also use these when I’m trail running in deeper snow. They stay out and I have never needed to readjust them.
These dudes are surprisingly tough. They work great as waterproofing and general covers for boots but they hold up really well against Louisiana swamp brambles, briars, and thorns.
