My past experience with "hunting bibs" has been a bulky, loose fitting work bib with a camo pattern, until now! These bibs are an athletic cut but not too restrictive, I can draw my bow easily and climb into my stand with ease of movement. I like the pocket location- you can get to them while sitting down. the construction of this garment is first class. My wife was skeptical when she read the invoice, but even she agreed these were the Holy Grail of hunting bibs!
Well done, high recommend.
I'm a first time buyer and just got my FirstLite Solitude Jacket and Bibs (both size Large). I was deciding between a medium and large, and I am glad I went with the large. With wearing baselayers in the extremely cold days in the midwest I will be perfectly warm and will still be comfortable without being too constricted. Can' wait for hunting season so I can get some good use out of them.
After a season of use in Minnesota and Wisconsin I think the solitude system is great. Kept me warm and stayed quiet in cold temperatures. I gave the 37.5 technology a pretty good test one day and it seemed to work well. I forgot some thing at the truck and did not remove the jacket and bibs for the hike. I got pretty warm during the hike, but stayed warm during the afternoon/evening sit.
I purchased the Solitude jacket and bibs primarily to hunt Whitetails stationary from a stand. I didn't get a chance to test it out on too frigid of conditions given the mild winter this year. That said, the jacket and bibs have the right amount of insulation--enough to keep you warm while not being overly bulky or too hot, with plenty of room to add underlayers as insulation as needed. I find that both the jacket and bibs are cut really well and allow plenty of maneuverability, including the hood. I still have plenty of room under the jacket/bibs for plenty of layers that I can add or remove based on the weather conditions. One thing is evident: the Solitude setup is well-designed and First Lite has really incorporated feedback from hunters. There are a lot of features like extra pockets, zippers placement, clips for binos, and overall function and fit. First Lite really put some thought in this setup and it shows. You can think of the Solitude setup as an insulated and enhanced version of the soft shell Catalyst. Not entirely waterproof in a downpour but it would take some rain. The Solitude jacket/bib setup is well worth the investment for the serious and dedicated hunter.
I bought the Solitude jacket and bibs because i drew an archery tag for Iowa. I am from from Pennsylvania, we have cold weather but I am not sure it compares the the bone chilling breezes of the Midwest.
With -8 wind chills, I do not think I would have been able to be sitting in a tree with my old gear. Very comfortable, warm system, not bulky at all. A++
Thanks for a great product!
