Went to upsate NY early season, this was a great addition to all my other baselayers. I like the fit and feel and was great around camp as well. Very warm for those cool evenings and morning sits. While on this trip the temps ranged from 38-75 degrees. These pants are very comfortable with full range of motion, they fit perfect and close to the body. Cuffs around the boots were perfect with a good design. No worries around pockets as these have a ton. I worn these is all temps and just adjusted the base layers under them.
It's June in Michigan, so I can't yet tell how these pants will perform once the cold sets in come November and December, but one thing I was very impressed with right off the bat was the comfort. I was torn between these and the Obsidian pants. I really wanted to go with the Merino because I had already purchased the Kiln long sleeve crew and I loved that. However, I thought these might be better once the days get shorter. I've paired these with the Kiln crew and LJs, the Klamath hoody, and an Obsidian vest as well to begin my layering. So far, very happy with all of their garments. I'll be adding either the Solitude or the Sanctuary jacket. I haven't ordered that piece because I haven't yet decided, but I will! The only real criticism I have of these pants are the inseam. Both the large and XL offer the same inseam. I was torn between the two as I wanted to make sure I had room for layering so I went XL. At only 5'9" they're a touch long. I would have gone with the large, but the inseam is the same for Large as it is for XL. All in all, not enough to make me take a star away. I like them that much!
I wore these during deer season in Tennessee I purchased them for elk and deer hunting in Washington state. During the deer season I used these in low 30’s in TN with no base layer my lower body did get cold but it was not unbearable I was still able to sit until mid day. I recently purchased the khlin bottoms to go with it and don’t think I’ll have a problem at all in the back country. I’ll pick up a mid weight as well for just in case but I don’t see any problems. They are very comfortable and fit really well.
The best hunting pant I have ever owned. Comfortable, warm, quite, and durable.
I purchased these pants a few months ago and have used them in a variety of situations. From squirrel hunting in January to spring turkey. Temps from 30-75. I’m able to sit with them in temps down to about 35 without another layer, and still hunt in temps up to 75. They are perfect in the temp range of 40-65 without being too cold or too warm. They are not made for tromping through briars. They are extremely comfortable as well. I didn’t have much use for the suspenders that are included. Overall, a great pair of pants for hunting and hiking.
I purchased this piece last year and wore it as a mid season outer layer in TX / KS archery seasons. It is perfect as a stand alone pant from 55 degrees and up. Water resistant qualities kept me dry while walking through dew covered bean fields. It is a solid quiet bowhunting pant. I bought the XL to allow for a heavy base layer if I needed it. I could have easily gotten away with a large for a stand alone pant without base layers. Everything I have purchased from First Lite has been of exceptional quality and has no doubt made me more efficient in the field.
I'm glad I bought these and not the merino pants. These are a great mix of warm and breathable. I went turkey hunting last week and hucked my way through much unexpected thorn brush. They held up great- no tears or even any sign of degradation. Very easy to clean, and the suspenders are awesome. I think these would even be nice in the summer when windy, and especially useful anything sub 50-degree weather. To my surprise, I thought the excess room would be a downfall but the suspenders hold the pants in place extremely well spot on or over the hip and allow for much more room when sitting down, squatting, hiking, and not to mention breathability. Cant go wrong with these although 200$ was a bit pricy they seem to be pants I will wear for years to come (and hopefully out west eventually).
Wore this backcountry hunting in Colorado in April turkey hunting. Whether it was 20 or 60 degrees I was comfortable. I can’t believe how weightless these are. I also really like the stretch when climbing ridges. Super impressed.
So far, I've been able to get out a couple times with these pants. I never thought I'd be a suspender guy, but I can say these were a great addition. Beyond that, I was surprised how well they breathed, even while I was pounding up and down deep creek ravines. Now with the fleece lining, it is a welcomed insulation when it is brisk outside and you're sitting and glassing, the outer shell provides a decent wind block while the fleece is nice a comfy on the inside. I wear boot gators all the time, but I was pushing through wet brush and the pants repelled the water quite nicely. For spring bear these pants are a must have!
I'm an avid backpacker and back country hunter, I have all the perfect versatile pants for long stretches into the wild, However once the snow starts to fly, I found myself lacking in the cold weather department. I'm a 34 x 34 and my biggest concern with these pants was the length. Which turned out to fit perfectly. These pants stretch in all the right places, they are breathable and most importantly they are quiet. My only concern is as a left handed person, there is no left side back pocket. I have not had the pants in wet conditions yet to see how the DWR coating holds up. Well done FL for another great product.
