I absolutely love this jacket! It is very lightweight and super warm! I use it underneath my wet weather top and my soft shell. This jacket is always in the bottom of my pack.
Great warmth to weight ratio. I am 6’ 2” 200lbs and the large fits me perfectly. Used this on a September caribou hunt near chicken Alaska. Weather was chilly and wet ranging from 50F to mid 30’s at night. Was a welcome addition to the hunt and fit well under my SEAK rain jacket. This sweater rolls up nicely into its own hood and can be crunched down to Nalgene bottle size. It’s easy to pack into a bag especially if space is limited and weight is a consideration. This will pack down smaller than the unconpahgre and is lighter weight. In my experience the unconpahgre is also a great jacket and would be my first pick if weight and pack size wasn’t a consideration (it’s also lightweight and packable but less so than the brooks).
This thing provides an incredible amount of warmth for the weight and fill. Went for an evening walk to test it out with outside temps at 54* with just this and a wick hoodie underneath and was sweating within about 10 minutes. It’s very thin and doesn’t feel as puffy as some other jackets I have so I really wasn’t expecting so much insulation. Arms are slim but not restrictive at all. Overall cut is athletic. I’m 6’4” and 220lbs with broad shoulders and chest and I have about a fist’s worth of space inside, just enough to have a base layer or two under it and slim enough to easily fit under my unpronounceable and corrugate jackets. My normal day to day lightweight jacket is a Patagonia Nanopuff, but this may end up replacing it even though I bought it mainly as a hunting piece.
I just got this jacket and used it on my summit of Mt Adams in Washington state. Very impressed with how warm it was as well as how well it held out the wind. It also fit great. Not to tight or to loose. Looking forward to using it for my mule deer hunt in Montana this year.
The jacket is great and extremely warm! But, the website pictures make the jacket seem more fluffy. It’s very thin, which isn’t bad. I also enjoy that this jacket does not make that scratchy noise when another piece of the jacket rubs against itself. The shoulders are on the smaller side. However, the jacket besides this fits true.
This jacket replaced the Cirrus in my pack as my go to insulating later. It is super lightweight and very warm for the weight. When layered properly I have utilized this jacket down in single digits with no issues getting cold. One of my favorites that First Lite offers. It is an athletic fit so it is slimmer for shooting.
Just purchased this jacket and wow! It's so warm, yet breathable so you don't cook. Very light weight and fits great. Will recommend to all my friends hunting during the rifle season in Montana.
I bought this jacket at the PA outdoors show and having been living in it since! I’m a female 6ft 154 athletic build - I chose the men’s over the women’s because I have a long torso and the men’s brooks had the length I need. I’ve worn it under my sanctuary jacket on really cold days and layered it under my fly fishing rain coat while fishing. This thing is like a furnace!!! Also super light weight and VERY easy to pack up into a small bag when you’re not using it. Highly recommend if you want maximum warmth in minimal size
This was the 2nd piece of gear I've purchased from First Lite and it was WORTH it! I immediately put it to the test hunting several days in the north Idaho panhandle during some sub 20 degree tree stand sits and mountain hunts. I was honestly impressed with how warm i was in this thin, extremely packable outer layer. I brought it with me to Kodiak island, AK in Dec 2019 and it performed fairly well in the 30 degree/20+mph winds. I went thru alot of thick underbrush and I'm surprised don't have any snags/tears in it yet.
