I wore these pants as an outer layer along with the Vapor Stormlight Ultralight Rain Jacket during a recent trip to Iceland. The pants performed exceptionally well in the harshest winter conditions I have ever experienced. I wore them everyday for 8 days, while hiking on glaciers and other general outdoor exploration activities. They held up just fine, no rips or tears anywhere, and kept me 100% dry. I ordered a small since I am shorter than most, and there was still plenty of room underneath for all of my insulating layers. The zipper function on the legs was extremely helpful, as I could take the pants off over my boots when I didn't need them.
Thought I would try these against the competition first to see how they performed not being constructed from your standard Gore membrane or Event, Neoshell, Etc...They fit really large around the waist which was a bummer so I had to purchase the suspenders to make them work for me. Regardless the overall fit and function were okay, but I put two small tears in them almost immediately and still to this day have no idea how that even happened...not a huge deal, through some goretex patches on them and the pants were good to go. a few weeks later while ice fishing, my cousin points down at the pants and tells me there's a huge rip down the side of the pants - Again no idea how or when they ripped. Hoping FL can do something for me but haven't heard anything back yet, I realize these aren't the Seek Stormtight pants but they need to be able to withstand more than a few outings before the fabric completely fails in my opinion.
These things kept my completely dry while trusting through 2 ft of snow in Colorado this last season. They don’t insulate at all, but the fact that I stayed dry helped me stay warm. These things are super packable and light. And with the vents it helps keep cool, while hiking around. Definitely will by another pair when these wear down. They did get a small rip as I climbed over some downfall... I climbed over a lot. But the repair tape firstlite sells worked perfectly.
Put these to work on a 3rd season elk hunt in Colorado, kept the wind off and kept me totally dry walking in 18" of snow. Fit very well. Only complaint/request would be I would like them even more if they would add a couple cargo pockets.
These pants served me well in some pretty bad rain/hail events while elk hunting Montana in September. The side zips are great, I store them in my pack ready to deploy, and the zippers work, not getting hung up like other pants I've had. The seat and knees are reinforced with a patch of extra fabric bonded to the face fabric, making them a little more sturdy that I first thought... They are light weight and a pretty good insurance policy when the weather gets sideways. My only gripe is I'm 6'6" and could use another inch or two in length for the early season. I used gators for the late season though, so it wasn't an issue.
These pants are very comfortable and DRY! During a four day very wet elk hunt these pants kept me dry and comfortable. One review I read before the purchase stated these pants were not very durable. I will agree they are not brush busters so be careful around poky sticks. While seated I poked three small holes in them from a stick I broke while sitting down. I can fix them with a sealant so it's not a big deal. Just be careful when wearing them and you will love these pants!
I don't love rain pants and only wear when I have to but these are a pleasure to put on. Comfy, stretchy, pretty darn tough and keep you dry. Excellent to have for foul weather to keep you warm and in the game.
Great pant easy to get in and out. Not much else to say.
Im not a big fan of wet weather gear. It always seemed to just seal water in and turn the inside into a sauna. Recently took this on a fishing trip rained most of a day. Stayed dry and cool even at 90+degrees outside. Quieter and lighter than any other WWG i have worn also. same goes for the jacket.
