I recently purchased the catalyst system. Obviously it’s not season yet but honestly this is the best fitting hunting camo I have ever owned.
I’ve aleays had trouble finding clothes and gear that work for me being a very built person. But this stuff is incredible. Can’t wait to try it for turkeys in the spring, bears, and white tail in the fall.
This jacket sucks. I've had it for three seasons now and it's falling apart. It also just doesn't make any sense. For the price it should be lighter, more durable, warmer, or more resistant to the elements. It doesn't make sense to have such an expensive jacket that isn't really a soft shell (neither wind nor water resistant), is so heavy, and has such crappy seams and zippers. The fleece is extremely thin so it isn't really a shell layer. Except it isn't really a shell either because it won't protect you from the elements. A light rain will soak straight through. For $240, this jacket is a scam.
Lots of suggestions and great help from First Lite. My measurements were at the top of the L and just under the XL on the provided fit chart. I'm 6'1' 210lb (people say I look 180lb) and I went with a XL for comfort and space to layer multiple layers. XL would have fit fine but I wanted more room. I will still use this as an outer layer but will require multiple layers under for wind stop and insulation.
Jacket fit as I wanted (room to layer).
Nice pocket lay out
Awesome hood fit/cut.
DEAD QUIET!! I only wore wool outer layers until this jacket.
Good sleeve length
Nice waist/bottom fit and tension cord.
Good for early season with one or two layers 30-50 degrees.
Very minimal insulation as in almost no insulation.
Cost is high for insulation level.
Resists wind very minimally and would require barrier layer for sure.
This is not for cold weather 0-20 degrees without multiple layers under it.
No under arm vents.
Been bowhunting for 20 years .. so I’ve tested just about everything the catalyst jackets warmest and quietest jacket I ever wore !!!!!
Love this jacket. It’s warm enough to hunt late season with Just a quality base and mid layer. Decently water resistant, and quiet as hell. Literally the only thing that I’m not 100% on is the cipher camo seems to have a really weird green tint to it that wasn’t obvious on the website’s picture.
