The Catalyst is hands down the best jacket I've owned. Been using it to scout elk on cool mornings. Quiet soft and warm, Layer up with this and it will work well into winter.
So I have the sawtooth that has been phenomenal . I am headed to Oregon In late Oct to hunt elk and wanted an alternative just in case we hit some precipitation. Selected the solid grey after
Deep diving into what colors big game truly see . With my pack, sling, and bono harness , I am confident that I will be breaking up the monotone.
The jacket quality is fantastic l. When I mean quiet , it’s silent . I am 6 foot 3 225 lbs and I was concerned with the fit .... not to worry the xl is perfect . The sleeves are nice and long and very secure at the wrist .... Plenty of articulations draw , low crawl , etc. th inside is very soft with high quality materials . The hood give excellent peripheral view . Having the sawtooth and this jaket give me a great range of flexibility for all of the unknowns
For a long time I have been searching for a jacket that could provide a small amount of warmth, water repellency and wind reduction as well as being incredibly QUIET! First Lite hit the nail on the head with this one. I am primarily a bow hunter and this jacket is quiet enough to draw your bow without making hardly any noise at all. This is extremely important on quiet nights and mornings when you have an animal in bow range. Despite being deadly quiet, the jacket has had no problem cutting light winds and shedding light rain, all the while being very breathable. I am able to wear this jacket comfortably from spring bear, early whitetail and elk season, and layer it up into moose and late October deer season. This jacket is extremely comfortable, versatile and quiet and is a must have in any avid hunters arsenal.
90 percent of my time hunting in Montana I have the Catalyst system on. I normally run hot and the fleece doesnt always help that situation but weather is unpredictable we all know that. I dont like packing loads of shit in my pack, so if i can get by in all weather condictions with what I put on in the morning the better I am. Ive worn the Catalyst system from -20 degrees to 70 degrees. Love it and will never leave the system at home
I love this jacket. It is light weight, warm, breathes and completely silent. The quality is awesome, and very well thought out. I bought it late during last bow season so I only got to test it out a couple times with the bow before gun season was open. I used it for a the entire season and for a few late season hunts with the bow and muzzle loader in early-mid December. I was able to layer merino base layer and other mid weight layers for the colder days and was completely comfortable. I also paired it with a down liner on the frigid cold days and was also completely comfortable. This jacket is cut perfectly for moving around. It also is silent, and burdocks and briars do not stick to it, which is a huge plus when walking miles everyday through all kinds of brush. Anything that manages to stick to it can be brushed off with a simple swipe from your hand. The hood is awesome for the colder or rainy days. It manages to cover your entire head and stays out of the way of your face so you do not lose your peripheral vision. I plan to get the sanctuary jacket for the frigid days in the treestand, but I was comfortable with this jacket in temps in the single digits all the way into the 50's when it was layered properly. I highly recommend this jacket. It is worth the investment and I am sure it will be a favorite of mine for a very long time.
