Used it while I hunted ducks and pheasants in the Midwest. Temperature was anywhere from 20-38 degrees. My bald head did not get cold at all. I broke a sweat on a few occasions and the hat was dry in no time after removing it.
This beanie is wonderful. Light and soft! The reviews were helpful for size selection. My head measures 22 3/4" for a hat size of 7 1/4. I bought the large in Conifer and it fits nicely over my ears. I think the medium would have been too tight for my head. This also goes very well with the First Lite outer ware hoods! Thank you again First Lite!
I now own 2 of this hat. I picked up a dry earth colored one last year. At the time I did not pay any attention to the listed size as it was the only one at the store and it seemed to fit. It is a medium and while it mostly fit my head, I have trouble with ear coverage. It's super light though, which is nice for just taking the chill off. In an effort to get one that will cover my ears I just ordered a large and in orange because I like the additional orange when rifle hunting. The large orange is thicker than the dry earth one I bought last year and seems to fit exactly the same. Strange consistency in product if two different colors are different fabrics and different sizes but fit differently. Still a good product. I only gave it a 3 star rating due to the size thing, otherwise a great hat.
This will be great for hunting, I probably need to break it in more, but first impressions are that it's warm and will be great for spot and stalk. I bought it as I see Steve Rinella wearing one on almost every episode of Meat Eater and figured it's worth trying. Look forward to using this fall.
I like the brim on this hat and that it is offered in orange. I ordered a fusion and orange in medium, for reference I wear a 7 3/8" fitted cap. The fusion fit perfect but the orange was much smaller and I couldn't get it over my ears, which would be a problem in the MN November gun season when temps can easily be in the negatives. FL exchanged the medium orange for a large no problems, but the large is VERY large. I can cover my ears and some of the back of my neck with it, with a little room up top. This may prove to be a good thing if I want to wear a balaclava under it, but otherwise I'll be folding the backside up. Overall good caps, just wish the orange was sized like the fusion version.
