WASHINGTON ELK

"For elk hunts, I pretty much always start my layering system with the Wick Short Sleeve. It's so versatile. If it gets hot or you're hiking hard, you're covered. And it adds a bit of insulation to layer over as temps cool. After that, the Klamath acts as a burly and warm midlayer. Additionally, I always carry a puffy on mountain hunts because you always have to be prepared for low temps when hunting at higher elevations. The hot weather on this hunt meant that the Uncompahgre Puffy Jacket didn't actually come out of my pack but I felt better knowing it was there. Finally, the Shale Touch gloves are great for both chilly mornings and for protecting my hands when I am really getting into a raking session."
