This was my first FL purchase and I ordered the XL. I am 6' - 240 lbs with 38" waist. The fit was spot on. The shirt is not baggy nor constricting. The sleeves are a bit long, but not to the point of being annoying. Plenty of room there. The thumb holes were nice for the early morning hunts when I elected not to wear gloves.I wore this as a base layer and middle layer on my Eastern NC turkey hunt this past spring. The temps were in low 50's and 75 or so for the highs. The shirt kept me warm and comfortable for the early morning hunts, and worn alone in the afternoon and evening this was all I needed. The fit is perfect for me, and was non restricting. It's not a tight fitting shirt. It's just a good fitting shirt. Like others have said you won't want to take it off, it's that comfortable. I wore this for 3 days and did not have an issue with smell. On the last day I could tell it needed to be washed. If you are not sure about buying this shirt, I would say don't be. I was the same way and after reading all of the positive reviews pulled the trigger. I do not regret it one bit. The cost is a bit high, but worth it. I purchased one for my son, and will be buying more for the colder Illinois deer hunts.
Best fitting most comfortable and well thought out clothing I have ever worn
Worked awesome, works well with layers to keep you warm. I called in a turkey till it was 8 ft from me this morning; only reason I didn’t get him was because I was archery hunting and I wasn’t ready in time. I use the fusion and it’s definitely one of the best camouflage patterns for pine forests.
Performs better than any other mid-heavy wool base layer I've used. That said, for a first or second layer, it runs a bit large. In my experience, a base or mid layer should be somewhat tight, but the Kiln fits quite loose compared to others I have owned, and can bunch up a little bit. It still does it's job incredibly though, is super comfortable for the most part (the bunching doesn't seem to be an issue), and I can tell it will hold up to a lot of abuse.
Like a lot of other people have said, these run a little big. Initially ordered XL but swapped them for L, which are still not super snug. For reference I normally wear XL T-shirts... This top is so comfortable you won’t want to take it off when you get out of the woods. I haven’t taken it into the extreme end of its temperature rating, but so far it’s meeting my high expectations.
