Firstly I love this jacket. It is very comfortable and warm. But I will advise the arms on this jacket are a tad tight. I am a 5’9” and 162 pounds for reference. The body part of the jacket and down the shoulder to the elbow fits perfect but the forearms are a tad tight. My recommendation is definitely size up so the forearms are a little less snug.
This jacket is very well thought out for the active hunter who wears a pack. Time will tell how it holds up in the woods.
Sizing I ordered size xl and xxl to try on both and kept the xl, returned the xxl. Both were snug in the shoulders but the material stretches so that didn’t bother me. Xxl was not much longer, but was bigger than I like around the mid section. If you have a big belly or prefer a looser fit, I’d suggest sizing up.
I bought this jacket to add to my small collection of FirstLite gear. I ran it over my medium Kiln Hoody to offset the slightly cold spring mornings in the turkey meadows of central Idaho. With that, the jacket was a tad bit small in the sleeves and in the back. But I only notice how snug everything is when I first don the jacket. So far, I have used it for spring turkeys, but I do plan to make this a must for fall deer and elk. Packs easy and feels lighter in weight compared to my Kiln Hoody. The back of the jacket is thin with no padding to prevent sweating when wearing a pack. Which is awesome! But, if I were to buy it again, I would go either a size up on the jacket or order my Kiln Hoody a size smaller.
The pattern looked great, the materials felt great and the performance for a very cold day was perfect. First day out with it got into a good turkey so no complaints so far. 100% recommend to anyone thinking of buying it. I made the mistake when I ordered it of thinking I want a tighter fit. Just order your actually size and it will already be that athletic fit. I went with a small if you’re around my size I would go medium.
This is my favorite piece. Perfect as an outer layer with a light base layer underneath when there is a little bite in the air, or as a mid layer when temperatures start to plummet. I wore the sawtooth from Mid - Late season in TX and KS, and it will no doubt be in my pack when I chase elk in Sept. Everything I have purchased from First Lite has been of exceptional quality and no doubt improved my efficiency in the field.
