I first bought one of these in fusion for deer season and it quickly became my favorite hat. It is far less bulky than my Carhartt, just as warm (if not more so) and fits in a cargo pocket perfectly. It wears well from early season hunts here in VT to Late season stand hunts where the temps are in the single digits.
I love this hat so much my girlfriend bought me a second one in dry earth and that is on my head or in my pocket every time I am outside, whether it is snow blowing the driveway, cutting up trees in the backwoods or making a quick run to the store. This hat also works well worn over a baseball cap which is a must for me.
I will be picking up one in black as well to wear on duty as it is way more comfortable than anything I have been issued and it is a perfect size to fit in a pocket of my duty pants. Can't recommend enough, just buy it already and buy two.
First off, I love this hat. A lot. I have bought one of each print First Lite makes. So I must kind of like the hat. I have a beanie from all the big brand outdoor companies, and this is by far the warmest one I have tried. I'm almost hesitant to wear it out and about town casually. I ask myself "is it really that cold, do I need to bust out the First Lite?" I worked for three years in a refrigerated warehouse company where the the average temperature was almost always 31 degrees Fahrenheit. I wore this hat almost everyday on the job. Literally my only concern with this product is the sizing. Like I said I have one of each print, and almost all of them fluctuate in size. The orange one in particular I received was much smaller than say the conifer one. They are advertised as one size fits all. I'd be curious to know if I'm the one missing something when buying these hats, or if there is just a little bit of variance product to product. Any help would be much appreciated. Again, I love the hat. Buy it. It is amazing. I especially love my cipher one.
The beanie hat is so easily overlooked, especially in CO where the rifle season color choice is orange, orange, or orange. To find a high-quality orange beanie was harder than I thought. This one is warm yet breathable and fits perfectly. I'm gonna pick up another one, in a different color, for daily use during winter.
The thing just fits!! No matter how you wear it, just atop your ears for those cool days, over a hat or down over the ears, it just fits. I have been told I have a big head, and finding a beanie to fit has always been a issue. I have finally found the solution....this beanie is perfect. It breathes well and keeps the cold out when still.
I have more expensive and less expensive than this hat. While the more expensive have things like windstopper they can get to a point where they press on my ears so hard that after a few hours of wearing my ears actually hurt. This hat does not fit like that on me and I appreciate it. Ill be buying more when they come in stock. Review is asking me for a size I ordered, there was none on this product. It fits my head where I wear a lg/xl fitted hat and it also fits my 9 year old son.
A great beanie to have when it gets too cold out. Not itchy at all either. Loved having this during late season elk.
Not only is this the softest most comfortable knit hat I’ve ever owned, it kept me warm while still hunting in 8 degree weather and wicked away sweat while dragging a deer. I have one in blaze orange and just ordered another in Cipher for next year
This one size fits all Merino Wool Beanie is soft to the touch, but durable enough to stay together after a few stickers and rough branch contacts. It can be folded and worn as an everyday head covering, or pulled down to dim the moonlight on those brighter open air nights. I have a 7 1/4 hat size, this beanie stays on my head, doesn't produce the "hat hair" or irritation that normally comes from a full day of wearing a beanie. I can use it all day, weeks on end and when I pass it off, the stretch and elasticity return to its original form, producing a great fit for my two year old son. Not too hot, and not too cool, it keeps the warm air in yet breathes to keep you from getting sweaty. Merino Wool keeps working, even when wet. Other materials fail when sweat, rain, or the occasional snow set into the material, and leave you with useless extra pounds to carry. I won't wear another beanie for day to day use, on the water, or in the woods. Great look and even better function.
I have 3 of these in orange, tan and camo. Depending on task I can swap them out and if really cold, you can layer a couple of them without constriction. It is one size fits all and in the review, there is not a spot for one size fits all, so I put Large.
Bought one of these in blaze orange for hunting season and loved it so much, I'm buying another in a different color. It's very light , extremly soft and has excellent warmth to weight ratio, even when wet. Our hunting trip for Western Oregon blacktail deer, offered all day rain and this beanie did not disappoint. I rang it out gently at the end of the day, hung it on a hanger and it would be about 95% dry in the morning, before first light. Only downside is it's Made in China.
