First of all these pants are a thinner than I was expecting but that’s ok, they’ll be even better for all purpose use than I thought they would be which makes them even more worth the price. I purchased them in dry earth for an upcoming moose hunt and for fishing as an under wader pant where merino excels. They will be perfect for my intended uses and then some. They are so insanely comfortable with stretch panels in all the right places, I’ve been wearing them all around, even lounging around the watch at the holidays watching football. They would even be awesome upland pants with a pair of chaps, no end to the possibilities.
I was skeptical of all the “perfect” fit reviews but other than being an inch long (as I expected) they are as close to perfect as I can expect. It has to be the combination of cut and stretch that is so accommodating for most people. No problem fitting them over mid weight base layer and tucking in a wool shirt.
I will say this, I’m a traditional wool guy for active cool/cold weather hunts, I would love to see First Lite be the first company to modernize a mid-weight virgin wool/wool blend pant and coat much like they’ve done here with lightweight merino.
I’m sold, the only question is, what piece next?

The pants fit true to size. I wear a 36x32 and the large was perfect. Could still wear long johns under them and still have room. Good stretch. Wouldn't wear them in thick sage brush but for most hunts they would be perfect. Dryed really fast.

Seem to be great pants so far, definitely breatheable, durable enough for the Alabama hardwoods. They are a little long on me so mediums might fit better if your pants length is usually a 30. Other than that they are very quiet, plenty of pockets, and super comfortable in the waist!

I use these for any time of the season and they always are comfortable and silent. They are my primary hunting pants for when I hunt the southeast for deer or turkey. While you wouldn’t expect wool pants to do well during the Spring heat or even the August heat and humidity of my coastal region, I never feel hot or wet. I’ve also been very surprised at how well they hold up to the brush in these swampy areas, where it is extremely dense with vegetation seems like just about all of it has thorns. I love them with the suspenders, which keeps them up no matter how much junk I stuff in the pockets. They are a little baggy, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue as much as I thought it would be when I first tried them on.

I'm 5'10" almost 5'11" and the pants lenght is perfect. Would also fit if I was a bit taller. I'm normally beetween 32 and 34 and the waist size is also perfect. Would fit if I had a little bit smaller or larger waist.

Theyre what id expect in fit, comfort and what not but they are fragile. If you hunt near any type of red brush or greenbriers you will need to pay attention. I went through some very light greenbrier the very first day i had them on, im talking thin stuff I didnt even give a thought too. When I sat down I had pulls all over.

Prior I wouldve been pretty unhappy with myself, these days hunting clothes get what they get and ill replace later. Id love to see this pant made with this in mind. A knee high brush guard type of fabric for the little stuff you cant see.

Anyhow, i simply burned the pulls off with a lighter and moved on with life. When theyre ruined, ill decide what to do then. Theyre far from that.

The fabric on these is surprisingly comfortable and is as adaptable to the circumstances as people claim. It even sheds a little bit of water.

It would be great if there was another model that had a narrower taper below the calves, but if I'm not wearing my boots with them I roll up the cuffs and there is a useful button and loop to hold them up. Well thought out! This has also been useful to keep them up and out of the water when crossing deep puddles without gaiters.

I went to buy another pair but need to wait until my preferred colour is in stock.

Theses Obsidian pants are legit! I have two pairs and have worn them from the whitetail rut in Ohio to river fishing in northwest Florida during the 99 deg, 80% humidity summer. They’ll keep you warm when it’s cold and breath perfectly when it’s hot with a summer breeze. They’re like wearing extremely functional, tactical pajama pants. From road trips to busting brush in the swamp, to hunting cold Alabama wet winters, they’re just at home wherever I go. I’ve even worn the tan ones out to eat at some nicer restaurants (I live in Florida, just wear a collar and your dressed up; love it!). They are lot more durable then I think people realize. They very much have that nylon texture/durability, but with all the benefits of merino. I’ve turned a few buddies on to these since my purchase a couple years ago. The fit is great! They’re about an inch long, which one of my fiends doesn’t like so much. I like my hunting pants a bit longer, because when you sit in a tree or squat down, you don’t get cold air going up your pant leg. If I’m going hunting or fishing, these are one of the first things to go in my bag!

I just received these pants and immediately had to try them. I have only used these pants the one time, so far, and they are great! I hiked about 6 miles through brush, in the snow (Northern Idaho). The Obsidian pants were warm, comfortable, flexible, and felt hardy in the brush.

I am a bigger guy, at 5’10” 250, 38 inch waist and the XL fits perfect. This was my first First Lite purchase and now I am sold. Can’t wait to try out the Kiln Hoodie!

Bought these for archery and they are as good as expected. Comfortable and able to tolerate rough hiking and movement. I will buy them in more patterns I like them so much.
