Got the jacket on Monday and got to put it to use last evening. Low 20's after 36 hours of rain with 15-20 mph winds. Very warm and wind resistant (proof?). Have not had it out in the rain yet, but am confident it will do well. I like the removeable hood, the sizing of the jacket, and the handwarmer pass thru. Very well thought out. My only minor issue is the narrow opening of the hand pockets. The pockets themselves are roomy, but the access is narrow and seems like they may fail early.
I recently purchased the solitude jacket and I have to say. It's the warmest hunting jacket I have owned. Everything about the jacket is well thought out. The fit and feel is awesome. Keep up the good work.
I’ll start by saying that the Solitude system is the first piece of technical clothing I’ve ever purchased for hunting. I purchased both the jacket and bibs and my only real complaint is that I didn’t do it sooner! I’m the type that doesn’t like to wear a ton of layers. I like 3 layers: base, mid, and outer, and this system truly allows me to do that. I’ve worn the jacket on one hunt so far (I’m already tagged out so I sat with a buddy who still had a tag just to test out the Solitude set) and it performed as advertised. Temps were in the 20°s to 30°s all day with a 10-15mph wind and I can say that I was warmer on this hunt than I was back in October in the 40°s and 50°s. The features are all great but I’m most excited about the internal cuff on the pocket to keep the cold out. That’s a game changer in terms of keeping your hands warm. I do not yet own the layering pieces from FL but over time I plan on adding to and completing the system and fully expect to make myself that much more comfortable.
The catalyst shell on this jacket is a winner. This jacket is warm, Durable, and Quiet . It is more insulated than I expected having already bought the bibs before the jacket. For the saddle hunters out there, the pass through to the solitude bib hand muff is really going to be a plus. I know it is for me! Another great piece from First Lite.
I bought this jacket during the Black Friday sale and I couldn’t be happier. The quality is top notch, the fit is great, and it has many features that would appeal to anyone looking for a quality, cold weather jacket. It is insulated extremely well but also has enough room for you to layer underneath. The sleeves are a major bonus for me as the taper and snug fit around the wrist works great when getting a tight fit with gloves. They are also phenomenal when using a bow as the sleeves don’t get in the way of your draw. Other puffy jackets have a tendency to rub or get in the way of your draw which is no bueno when it’s the difference between a good shot or a bad one. The front hand pockets are also well insulated and although I haven’t gotten hunting time with the jacket yet, it seems like I might not even need to wear gloves. Time will tell though. There are plenty of pockets on the jacket and it is meant to pair with the catalyst bibs. There is a pass through on both sides of the jacket for your hands to go through which allows you to use the bib pockets to create a tight seal and keep body heat in. All in all it’s a great jacket and I’m looking forward to putting some years of use in it.
