Great lightweight jacket. Exactly what I was looking for. I’m not a fan of big bulky jackets so this paired with quality base layers is perfect. I wouldn’t hesitate wearing this in to late season paired with my furnace zip up.
Love this jacket! Lots of room for layering! Lightweight warm, I cant wait to use for spring bear. Plus it looks killer walking around everyday life too ;)
Only issue i have is the hood doesnt stow away properly. Not a deal breaker but its still something.
The Catalyst jacket and pants are absolutely first rate. I think these are my favorite products of the First Lite system. When paying top dollar for high speed technical hunting gear, durability and function are crucial. In this case, First Lite nailed it.
Quality/durability: The jacket is very durable; I frequently find myself traversing through thick brambles and thorns, rubbing against hard bark on trees, getting poked by antlers--The jacket and pants have held up perfectly.
Noise: This is where this Catalyst really shines. Some may recall that the precursor to the Catalyst jacket was the North Branch. While this was a good jacket; it did not have a hood and it was a bit noisy. The Catalyst system is completely quiet. I was in up in a tree in my saddle on opening day with deer walking all right by. I managed to rotate to the other side of the tree, get into position, aim and fire all without any of them even knowing I was there. I can walk silently through the woods in this setup no problem.
Fit: Perfect fit. Athletic fit that FL is known for while giving enough room in the arms and the torso for layering. Hood is very functional.
Material: Soft and quiet yet durable. This will not keep you dry in a rainstorm but could work with a brief shower.
Material is fantastic, it’s fairly warm for weight with layers, fit is decent overall, but sleeves need some room for layering. It’s ultra quiet and comfortable, although the body seems slightly big and sleeves seem slightly tight. Would love to see it have more water repellence, it’s fine in a very light rain but gets wet quickly with much rain at all. I’m sure it’s tough to keep the material soft and quiet and resist moisture but just maybe a better DWR coating? The hood is the biggest issue for me. I love it when using the hood, but 80+% of the time the hood isn’t being used and the extra material around the neck and chin leaves a sloppy look and feel to the top of the jacket. Enough so that I find myself not wearing nearly as much and even considering selling. Maybe a non hooded version would be a solution, since some may like the hood design.
4 days in mountains in BC hunting mule deer, temps neg 10 to neg 15 C. Just a thermal layer and jacket and I was warm enough as long as I was moving. Had to throw on the puffy as an outer layer when sitting and glassing. Very quiet and comfortable. Fit was perfect.
