I participate in precision rifle matches and wanted some pants to wear during warm humid weather we have in the northeast. I was concerned that these pants might lack the durability needed to survive the constant kneeling, crawling, and movement that the sport entails. But so far after a handful of matches, they have been great. They are extremely light and comfortable in the heat, and flexible enough to not impede movement. I will definitely be picking up a few more very soon.
Took these out to the high desert in 90F heat to go do some summer scouting. They hold up well against sage brush and vent nicely. Found that with the mesh cargo pockets, I could open them up and get some nice additional venting. Also, wore them for 5 days straight and they didn't smell!
Only nit is that I wish these had a little bit of elastic in the waist. The 'true' pant sizing does fit much better, but I still wish I could have the elastic if I wanted to throw a IWB holster in the pants.
I heard a lot of up and down reviews about this pant from my buddies, I was hesitant to pull the trigger on them until I bought a couple pairs of guide lite shorts (very highly recommend).
I have now had them on two long hikes. The first was in sunny and 85 degrees the other was 50 and pouring rain. After two outings they are worthy of 5 stars. They fit great around the waist, for me they are slim through thigh and straight through the rest of the leg. They are very lightweight, feel similar to your favorite summer fishing or floating pant. I can see myself packing these in my pack for longer hunts just to have another pant for around camp they’re so light.
They are 2 way stretch and a thinner fabric than the corrugate guide pants. What this did for me was when they got sopping wet and were no longer shedding water they did not have as much water penetrating to your body. Think about how much water a pair of jeans would absorb compared to a pair of swim shorts. Your legs are not absolutely drenched after pushing through wet grass. They did dry quickly as well. So far I love these pants and foresee myself using them a ton this summer for summer hiking, scouting, camp and fishing/floating. If you’re looking for a light pant look no further.
Love these pants! Super lightweight and the fit is almost perfect. I'm 5'10 and normally wear a 34x30 but the sizing doesn't come in that length, so i did have to get them cut. Not a big deal over all, for the quality of pant that you are getting. Love how breathable they are during the humid summer in Virginia. Can't wait to put to the test in Northern Nevada later this year.
I was on the “Notify When Available” e-mail list for these pants in Ash Gray and the wait was worth it. The color is great and the stretch in these pants is unbelievable. They are lightweight enough that I don’t mind wearing them when backpacking in hot weather for the added mosquito protection. Super comfortable and non-restrictive in the boat one the first light fishing trips.
I like the pocket configuration and the silicone print inside the waistband. I do use my FL suspenders from some Obsidian pants when backpacking so the pack waist belt doesn’t push the pants down.
Pairs great with the Wick Hoody and Wick Crew.
