Exceeded Expectaitons 10/10/2018

Cold has no idea what to do about this jacket. As soon as it's on, heat is locked in and cold is locked out.
Excellent water repellancy, excellent movement- my new favorite cold weather jacket. I'll even use it to go skiing.

Pleasantly surprised. 10/4/2018

Quick info about me,: 220 lbs, 6'2", 36" waist, 45" chest.

I was looking for a dedicated insulated jacket for hunting, so I could save my Patagonia down for other activities. This jacket has far surpassed my expectations, by a large amount. It looks stylish enough to wear around town, and fits excellently. I wore it today while reconnoitering aspen stands for upcoming timber sales (I'm a forester). The temperature was 35 degrees F, a rotating mix of sleet/rain/hail/snow and steady 5-10 mph winds. I was perfectly warm wearing this with a short sleeve will base layer and rain jacket. If anything, I was too warm. Great job, First Lite!

Perfect Jacket 9/10/2018

Took this on my 6 day archery Elk hunt in the mountains of CO. This jacket is so comfortable, and fits perfect. Because of the warm temps, I only used it in the early mornings, or around camp at night when it got cold, but I did throw it in my pack every day just in case, as it is very light, and very packable.

Light and Wicks Moisture 8/30/2018

After nearly a summer's use (where I live it's always jacket season) I found the jacket to be a great 'small' puffy. This jacket is super light and will serve well as a layering piece during the cooler months. It packs down to 2 fist size, which makes it a great jacket to always have in the pack for that unexpected stuff. The moisture wicking ability is what really surprised me, I've never seen anything quite like it. It's so effective at wicking, the outside of the jacket will start to get wet, no joke. Only downfall is the shell material will easily stain (I have the brown color) the oils from my face have discolored the collar area, no big I guess I should just wash it. But it was a little surprising to see. Overall great jacket, add it to your collection.

Great Jacket 8/30/2018

Got to use this late season in the tree stand last fall and am looking forward to taking into the mountains this fall. It's a little loud as an outer layer in the stand, but if you have something over it its ok. Very light and warm. Pairing it with the Woodbury Jacket.

Can’t wait for the cold 8/30/2018

Great insulator. Plan to wear this in conjunction with the Woodbury Jacket to increase insulation, when the temperature really drops. This piece adds more diversity to my system. Fit is excellent. Athletic cut like most offerings from FL. Fit is perfect and provides ample room for layering underneath. Runs true to size. Completely satisfied!

warm (but a bit noisy) jacket 8/30/2018

This jacket is light and warm. I have tested it to about 32°F in the Texas Hill Country this past winter., and it performed as advertised. My only complaint is that it is a bit noisy for archery. I would not use it on a tree stand, but maybe during a spot and stalk hunt with some wind to mask the noise.

My new “go to” jacket. 8/30/2018

After a For me this jacket checks all of the boxes.

-Warm for the weight, especially if layering properly.

- Fits in it own pocket.

- Looks great. Well made and well designed, it looks like a quality product when you are wearing it.

- Functional. I purchased this for “hunting” jacket, it quickly became my daily jacket that hangs by the door.

Lightweight warmth 8/29/2018

I’ve used my Cirrus for about a year now and it’s a great lightweight insulator that packs down for easy transport. However, it could be improved two ways: (1) use a less crinkly nylon fabric of that’s not so noisy when it gets cold; and (2) slim it down by removing a little insulation and making the fit less boxy.

How it fits
A little too boxy in the body.

Awesome for layering, great fit 8/29/2018

Bought this on sale and wanted a warm black jacket for turkey hunting in a blind. Worked awesome for this and can tell it will be great for layering on November sits. It's also extremely breathable so even when active I had no issues. It's quiet as well which I was a bit concerned about originally. I'm going to pickup another in camo to use as an outer layer. I loved the jacket so much I ended up wearing as an everyday outer. I haven't purchased a first lite piece I didn't like or find a real use for. It's my go to system and will be picking up additional new gear this year..

Amazing product! 8/29/2018

I read all the reviews before purchasing this jacket, as I have been disappointed in the past with the latest and greatest. Pulling the jacket out of the box I was a bit skeptical. It was so amazingly light... I have to say after 9 months of wearing it in moderate to very cold conditions, this jacket is the best I have ever owned. Simply said, it is all that. Yes, it could be a little longer, or have another pocket as some reviews have noticed. Aside from these issues, the jacket is very lightweight, warm, and easy to move in! Has been an amazing product for me! I would highly recommend this jacket.

Warmth to weight can’t be beat 8/29/2018

I couldn’t have been more surprised at the performance I got out of this jacket. I was looking for something lightweight to keep on me for the long treks that wouldn’t make me sweat bullets, but then kept me warm when I came to a stop for glassing. High quality versatile piece! 8/29/2018

I've been using the Cirrus puffy for several months now in a wide range of environments and I am very pleased with this garments performance. I've used it in the Rockies for early spring backpacking when the morning temps are in the twenties and it doubles nicely as a pillow. The only thing I would like to see different is a quieter fabric. Hunting Whitetail with a long bow in a tree stand back East I'm afraid it may be a bit to noisy.

Confident for Morning Stalks 8/29/2018

This was what I'd call a wild card gap in my gear- the jacket that I could add to layers when it's below freezing in the morning, but mid-50's by after noon. It's easy to stow and plenty warm. Much of my former gear was plenty warm, but so bulky, I'd have to leave early or ditch it somewhere and hope to return to it. I love this jacket! And it's so lightweight when it's on, making it easy to move. Necessary for bow hunts.

Great jacket 8/16/2018

I bought one of these in conifer for everyday use while they were on sale, but I expect I may use it as a layering piece on occasion for deer and elk hunts. It is amazingly warm for its weight, almost freakishly so. I am not sure that it is the best choice for an active hunter, as I seem to overheat it in pretty quickly even in the cold, but for a strand hunter, or for spotting before a stalk, it would be a great layering piece. It definitely has a role in the FL layering system.

Ton of warmth for the weight 8/2/2018

This is a super warm piece. I rarely wear it because it is noisy for whitetail hunting but when it is windy because it blocks any and all wind, and when worn under a jacket it ins't loud enough with a breeze. Wore this jacket in early November while bow hunting when we had a cold blast. 15 degrees with a stiff breeze and snow. I wore this under a hoody and sanctuary bibs. I stayed warm for 8.5 hours on stand. I highly doubt you will find that in such a light and snug package anywhere.

Understated warmth 7/28/2018

Great piece. The warmth "sneaks up" on you. I was disappointed initially, not feeling confident in it's ability to insulate after trying it on around the house. I never feel instantly warm putting it on, but after 15 minutes I'll look around, realizing I've not been cold in spite of conditions. DWR works great as well.

Biggest test so far (got it since hunting season) was a day on the range, worn over a T-shirt & heavyweight fleece in 35-45 degree temps with wind gusting to 40 and intermittent snow flurries/rain showers. The previous day I wore only the fleece and the wind cut through and was constantly aware of the chill (though temps were higher and wind less). With the Cirrus on wind was no concern, and I stayed toasty.

Fantastic! 6/8/2018

Got this coat for a bear hunting/fishing trip in Montana last month. Other than some old pants, I've never had any First Lite gear so i was very excited to see how it was. This coat performed perfectly for me! It was very comfortable, warm in the 30-50F weather, and kept me dry in the drizzly days. The fit was perfect (small, I'm 5'7 135lbs). The material was probably a tiny bit loud compared to others, but for my purposes no problem. I was concerned about durability, but i encountered no problems. At night i tucked it into its pocket and used it as my pillow. The second half of my trip was fishing in Glacier, where it was 30 and 40F, rainy and windy. The coat blocked the wind very well and kept me quite comfortable out on the water for hours at a time, and when it was raining fit easily under my raincoat.

Highly recommended!

Light, warm, but a little loud 3/23/2018

I got this thinking it would be a bare bone, lighter Uncompahgre and for the most part it is (love my Uncompahgre). But the material does not seem the same. Maybe that's just because it's new. The Cirrus is stiffer and louder, almost a crinkly feel to it. Was hoping to use it as an outer for archery season but not comfortable with the sound it makes especially drawing my bow. I'm sure it will work well for early rifle season or as layer on cold days.

Great for late season archery 3/3/2018

Great packable insulation layer 2/17/2018

This jacket is a a no frills insulator. I prefer it to the uncompahgre b/c it doesnt have a hood on it and you have the ability to pack it into its own pocket. If you're wearing this jacket I recommend you don't wear it next to skin (wear long sleeves) because you'll start to build up moisture.

best lightweight syn jacket I have ever found 2/3/2018

Very warm and very light. Perfect cut in Med at 165lbs and 5'11". Can fit llano and chama under it and still be comfortable. One thing that I have not seen others mention is the neck is cut perfectly. I typically have air gaps in non-hooded jackets because the neck is too loose, or have to unzip the jacket because the neck is too tight. This one is literally perfect! I also have the Unc but I almost always take the Cirrus instead.

New favorite layer 12/17/2017

Just finished up a December whitetail hunt on the eastern plains of Colorado and used the Cirrus as an early morning layer under the Uncompahgre jacket. With both on, I was extremely comfortable in the 5-10 degree temps. The strategy of the hunt is to hike to strategic glassing points and then sit, sometimes for an hour or more and find deer. The versatility of this jacket is amazing mainly due to its lightweight size and incredible warmth. I've recently shifted from another major brand to First Lite and feel that the FL gear is much more comfortable to wear and I get better results for my money. Thanks First Lite - great job on the Cirrus!

Very warm puffy jacket for it's weight. The fit is on point of what I would expect (I'm 5' 11" and 165 and the medium fits perfect). Although it would be nice to have an extra inch or so on the front of the jacket to match the tail. Sheds light rain very well and cuts wind well also. My only gripes are that the overall length is 1-2 inches too short and the storm flap is behind the zipper opposite of the pull tab (zipper would often get caught while zipping up). If the length was similar to the Uncompahgre, this jacket would easily be 5 stars.

Amazing jacket 11/20/2017

I absolutely love this jacket and will be purchasing another one in one of the other patterns. It is extremely warm and very light. It doesn't feel like you are wearing anything but keeps you warm. This is the perfect layering jacket.

Great Mid layer 11/12/2017

This is the perfect mid layer for chilly mornings. I put this over my Chama hoodie and under my woodbury and I'm set down to the teens. It has a nice and slim cut so it fits under jackets without bulk.

Good but room for improvement 11/10/2017

Good jacket with a good fit but the outer material does have that plastic baggy feel and sound to it. The jacket is actually louder than a non-hunting based brand ultra lightweight puff jacket I own. Ideally premium hunting clothing matches the tech of high end outdoor gear but with a hunter specific consideration for noise and scent control. In this case because of the outer material I don't think this accomplishes to that end and is a redundant piece with the gear I already own.

A little spendy but very comfortable 10/30/2017

I guess you get what you pay for. I used it for the first time this season in Washington state during muley and black tail hunts. It was rained on, snowed on, I fell in a creek, etc and it remained keeping me warm. The material dried fast and was tough enough to make it through western wa brush and eastern wa burned out areas. For a light weight jacket, it was pretty warm, especially if I added a vest to it. I am happy to carry it in my pack for a "go to" jacket and would recommend it to anyone interested.

Amazing warmth for such a light jacket 10/25/2017

I had the opportunity to try out my new Cirrus Jacket on my Ohio farm during a recent cold front. It was quite breezy that evening with temperatures dipping down near the 40s. After getting settled in my stand, I started to cool off quickly from the temps and the wind. I slipped on the Cirrus and it immediately put a stop to any wind getting to me. The insulation warmed me up quickly and balanced my core temperature once I got comfortable. Not long after that, a mature doe stepped into a 17 yard shooting lane. Even with a Chama 1/4 zip and Llano crew underneath, none of the clothing hindered my ability to smoothly draw and release my bow for a perfect shot. The Fusion pattern kept me completely hidden from all 8 of the deer that walked by that evening. I am 6’1” and 210 pounds. I buy size large in all my FL gear and it fits great.

Great spot and stalk jacket 10/15/2017

Finally got a chance to give this a test. Spent the day spot and stalking mule deer in steep rocky country. It was really handy to just be able stuff in the outside pocket of my Exo pack when climbing. It's amazingly warm for the thickness and seems pretty wind resistant.

Light, comfy and squeaky 10/10/2017

This jacket is super comfy. It's Light, warm-ish and packs easily. It's also very durable. I've fallen or tripped half a dozen times in the last week alone, and snagged the jacket on branches. It holds up well!

The only downside I've noticed is that the material squeaks against the padding on my hunting frame.

Dope puffy 10/4/2017

Lightweight functional insulation for when the temps really dip. Thinks this jacket has everything you need and nothing don't. A little roomier than the typical size allowing it to fit comfortably over others layers. Wore this with the Vapor over top during a snowstorm in the teens and was perfectly warm and able to hunt. Packs down into a pocket making a perfect camp pillow. Drawstrings cinch in the pockets so they can't snag. Great stretch on the cuffs. No features I'd add or subtract from this jacket. They got it right!

Awesome Jacket! Lightweight/super warm! 10/3/2017

I use this jacket nonstop. Chilly nights walkin out in the dark to freezing mornings. Under my vapor rain jacket it's mega warm and comfy. Glassing in the wind it's great. And I put it on every morning when I go out to start the diesel! Buy it! Seriously!!!

AWESOME 10/3/2017

Another great piece. It's super packable lightweight and warm. Great for early season when it starts out around 50 degrees go's up to 80 and then drops back down at the end of the day, easy to bring on an all day hunt. If it was a little quieter it would be perfect.

Used on the mornings of a recent Elk hunt, lightweight, easily packable, great warmth. I also used this jacket as a pillow during the week. I highly recommend this jacket especially when packing in to the backcountry.

Ultralight! Backpackers go to 9/10/2017

I love this jacket! I own an Uncompaghre and prefer to backpack hunt with my Cirrus. Packs down and keeps me more than warm. I'm 5'7, 150lbs athletic build and I wear a medium. Fits perfect.

Awesome ultralight jacket 9/2/2017

This is one of my favorite pieces from First Lite. The warmth to weight ratio is outstanding. I always have this along on winter hunting and backpacking trips for when I'm sitting around not moving as it's very warm and wind resistant but takes up very little room and is very lightweight. Highly recommended.

Awesome Jacket 8/16/2017

I havn't gotten to use it out in the field yet but have worn it around the house. It is super comfortable and does a good job of keeping you feeling comfortable. If you have a long torso, I would recommend going a size larger than you normally do. I have a medium sized torso and the large was almost to short for me but it does fit me.

Great Jacket 8/11/2017

I ordered this jacket for a backpacking trip to Europe. Weather was cool and rainy most of the time, and this jacket performed excellent. This jacket packs down nice and small into its own pocket a very nice feature. I also took this jacket on a May river trip on the rogue river in Oregon. It kept me warm in the mornings and evenings and doubled as a pillow at night. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a lightweight layering jacket that keeps you warm and dry. I can't wait to use this thing on my up coming elk hunt in October.

My new go to 8/5/2017

Everyone has their favorite (insert piece of gear here). This one just became mine. When I placed my order I was taking a big leap never having handled any of the first lite line. When my package of three items arrived I wondered why it was split in to multiple shipments because of how small everything compressed (all three pieces were in there). I unpacked my pouch and was amazed by how light weight everything was. I'm a smedium guy ( 5ft9 and 175) and got a medium. It fits great! Plenty of room for layering beneath without swimming in it.

I finally got the chance to get it out in the field and couldn't be happier. It is absolutely the right weight and insulation paired with the Chama 230 for morning and evening glassing and worked great as an insulator overnight. I'll be getting this in a solid pattern so i can wear it every day without my wife's look of disgust for wearing fusion everywhere. It is the new king of my back county kit that will carry me through early season right in to waterfowl.

It really fits in it's own pocket.... 6/27/2017

This thing is awesome. I wasn't sure about the whole fitting in its own pocket thing but it sure does and it takes up almost no space in your pack. Definitely one of my favorite pieces of gear at this point and takes up little to no space in my pack. You can tell it is high quality as soon as you put it on. Its actually a pretty nice looking jacket that I would wear around town as well. This is a must have if you like quality lightweight gear.

Haven't used on a Hunt yet 6/8/2017

I bought this Jack for my 2017 Mid season Cow Elk hunt in Nevada. I put it on right out the package and I was immediately glad I purchased this jacket! It feels super light and can be packed away in the tightest places in a hunting pack or gear bag. I recently wore it in the cool mornings of my swift water rescue technician advance course in the eastern sierras and it kelp me warm and very comfortable during my training. I got a lot of compliments from my fellow fire fighters and some even said they'd buy one too. The price tag seem to shy some away but I tell them that you want to buy quality gear that will out last you in the field! I bought a large and it fits perfect! I'm mean perfect! I'm 5'11 and 195 lbs, athletic build, and a wing span of 75 inches. Yep high ape index! I also got the dry earth color which the marines like where I work. It's a great addition to my gear and can't wait to use it for my oct. hunt.

Great for girls too! 6/1/2017

I purchased this jacket before they came out with the women's puffy. I am 5'4" and 120# and this jacket fits pretty dang well in a men's small. I definitely have room for layers underneath, but I also don't feel like I'm swimming in it. I used it last archery elk season in the CO mountains and it was perfect for when storms came through.

Incredibly Comfortable 5/24/2017

I received the Cirrus jacket a couple weeks ago and it's awesome!! It's hard for me to find great quality hunting gear that fits perfect and is comfortable. When I tried this jacket on it was like it was custom made for me. It's super comfortable and really light weight. It's also quiet which is huge. The best jacket in my hunting arsenal by far. Great job First Lite

Lots of warmth! No weight! 4/22/2017

The Cirrus Ultalight Jacket is very compressible, warm, and extremely light. It is the perfect cold morning glassing piece. I have found that pairing the Cirrus over the Charma 230 is perfect for cold but above freezing temps. For temps below freezing it is perfect as a mid layer under the Uncompahgre Puffy. Doesn't leave my pack. Highly recommend.

Near perfect puffy 4/18/2017

Since buying the Cirrus it has been my one and only puffy. I have warn it early morning bow deer in Nevada, early morning riffle antelope in Oregon, all day every day elk in B.C. and plenty of cold cold coyote calling mornings as well. If you don't need a hood it is the perfect size and weight. The Medium fits perfect on 5'9" 175. If or when I wear it out I will surely get another one. I did have a tearing issue when I took a hard spill in some rocks but to my surprise it patched super easy and has held up well since.

Warm! Weightless! 4/14/2017

This jacket is perfect for cold morning glassing. I have found it to be perfect layered with the Llano 170 and Chama 230 for above freezing temperatures. When the temp drops below freezing it works wonderfully as a mid layer under the Uncompahgre puffy. The Cirrus Ultralight jacket has been with me on every hunt since I have owned it.

My favorite jacket 4/14/2017

Such a great piece! Weighs next to nothing and adds a superb amount of heat. Whenever the sun is down or I'm sitting to glass, this jacket is on. I like that is doesn't have the hood as I have other layers with hoods and hats too...too many hoods is such a nuisance. I layered this under my Woodbury during duck season and it was a great combo on all but the coldest days. The cuffs on the sleeves are super comfy, keep extra material from getting in the way, and keep the air out. Love this thing!

Light and Warm 3/22/2017

I was worried the Cirrus wasn't going to be warm enough. I was wrong to say the least! I have been wearing it on the back half of winter here in Oregon. It is now my go too. The cut and fit is perfect for everyday use and makes it very comfortable. Plus it makes great pillow in the sleeping bag. My favorite combo is the base layer, Chama Hoodie, and the Cirrus. You won't be let down.

Better than expected 3/20/2017

I had a tough time deciding between this and the Unpronounceable, but glad I did for my use. Early season archery for my taste eliminates the need for ultra warm and a hood, so I went with the Cirrus.

IT'S PLENTY WARM. I managed to wear it a few times, when it did actually get cold and when it was raining. That was the surprising part - I knew it was warm from the first time I tried it on, but the fact I stayed completely dry in the rain I didn't carry gear for was awesome. Had I sat in a downpour long enough I'm sure it would have been different, but if you want a warm jacket for early season and a way to weasel out of taking rain gear - this will do nicely. (If you are related to lithium batteries and tend to explode if you get a little wet, maybe take rain gear anyway. Your call.)

Fantastic Jacket 1/13/2017

This is a fantastic piece for the backcountry hunter that in an ounce counter. Very warm and form fitting jacket. I will say, that it is a bit short in the torso area though. I am 5'11 and usually wear medium/MT in all of the clothing. If you want a bit more length in the jacket, then size up. It's not like your adding a whole lot of weight by doing so. Besides that, it is a really great jacket that I look forward to using during elk season.

Excellent jacket 12/30/2016

This jacket is awesome! It is super light and packs well. I have hunted on very cold days and been just fine with a couple base layers underneath. I have also layered a heavier jacket over it on extremely cold days. This jacket forms to the body without feeling tight or constricting allowing for layering and great movement. It's crazy warm for its weight and durable. Get one!

She's a warm one! 12/9/2016

I've been wearing this jacket from anywhere between 7 and 40 degrees...with wind chills down to -13. It has been a very good piece and keeps the wind out, while insulating my core and arms. The only item I might request to change is the lack of insulation in front of the pockets. There seems to be no insulation in front of the pockets, so the back of your hands will get cold if you are attempting to warm them up.

Nickname: Jeremiah
Surprisingly warm! 12/6/2016

I got this jacket due to the ability to compress it down to a very small size, but wasn't sure really what to expect as far as warmth. Once the jacket arrived, I was very skeptical that it would provide any warmth at all, as it felt so light and thin. I knew it was about 38 degrees at the start of my evening hunt and would drop to 30 degrees by the time I was done. I layered with the First Lite Llano as my upper base layer, with the Chama QZ as my mid layer, and the cirrus as my outer layer. I couldn't believe it, but my upper body didn't get the least bit cold. I stayed very comfortable for the duration of my hunt, other than my toes getting a bit cold towards the end. The only issue I have with this jacket is that it is a bit on the noisy side for whitetail hunting. Other than that though, this jacket was worth every penny.

Good jacket 12/2/2016

Nice jacket. Lightweight but not as light as I thought it would be. Basically it seems like a uncompahgre puffy jacket without the hood and chest pocket. It wears comfortably under my uncompahgre puffy. Definitely a warm combo. Fits tighter than most other first lite gear. I normally wear a large in first lite everything but with the cirrus I went with a XL. Perfect fit.

Outstanding 11/17/2016

I bought this jacket for early season archery hunting when the mountain temps drop low. I ended up using it as a pillow more than a jacket during the early season, but it has stayed in my pack and it's been a great addition for November. It fits pretty snug, but I'm a big guy (6'3" and 235 lbs) and it doesn't interfere with my range of motion at all. The snug fit is great as it doesn't get in the way of my bow string either. I've been impressed with the warmth to weight ratio of such a thin jacket. I won't go anywhere without it now. Great product.

Great Jacket! 9/24/2016

There is finally a jacket light enough to pack away and that is not bulky. The weight is unnoticeable and packs tight away in your pack. Used if for the first time and I was impressed how warm the jacket actually was. My only slight concern is that it was a little "noisy" but I sure it will break in as you use it.

Awesome piece of kit 9/22/2016

I purchased this a while back, but had not yet had the opportunity to use until fall bear and finally archery elk. I love this jacket! I tend to run warm, but when I do get cold it can be tough to warm back up. This is just the right amount of insulation. I also have the Uncompahgre puffy which I also love, however the cirrus is something that I just now won't leave without. Since I pack in for a lot of hunts, I also use it as my pillow. Now I just need one in fusion too!

Love the jacket... 8/15/2016

I do like this jacket, but was surprised when i tried it on, it was more snug than any of the other "base layers" that First Lite offers. I have many other layers from them and they all fit almost exactly the same, except this one. the design and warmth of this jacket are great, so i will just be exchanging it for the next size up...... otherwise, its surely an ultralight warm jacket that i intend on having in my pack or wearing this fall!!

Buy it. It'll be the best purchase you make. 8/6/2016

If you're an ounce counter the numbers speak for themselves. If you're a hunter looking to update you old worn out puffy, this is what you want. It's simply the best. Folds up into its own pocket for the back pack hunters, and also doubles as a pillow.
Just spent two nights above timberline In hopes of tying mule deer buck to a tree and this piece was critical in keeping me comfortable. Throw in your charma hoody and you are set for a wide range of temps.

BACKPACK HUNTERS: Ultralight & ultra-packable warmth. 8/1/2016

I'm a firm believer in always having a puffy jacket in my pack, just because I flat out hate being cold. This jacket's warmth-to-weight ratio is impressive. Solid piece for the backpack hunters looking to free up some space in their pack and cut weight.

My only knock against this jacket is that it's not the quietest material in the world, but that's the same with nearly every other UL puffy out there. Just keep in mind, jackets like these aren't really meant to stalk/hike in, they're meant to trap heat and keep you warm when you're not moving.
